This page is created on request by several residents in TBU who reads my blog. They wanted a dedicated page that focus its content on the safety issue that affects Taman Bukit Utama. Following a series of repeated request over 4 months period to MPAJ to maintain the drains at the hillside of TBU, they finally took action after the intervention by the State Government.

Progress of cleaning works of the Hillside Drains at TBU.
Job scope
1. Clearing all horizontal and vertical drains on the terrace. Total of 5 horizontal terraces
2. Clearing of all small vegetation on the terraces
3. Repairs of all damaged drains
4. Landscaping of terraces with proper root binding trees

21/3 – Article published
22/3- sms exchange with Izzudin, BA local councillor
22/3 – sent email of the article to YDP, MB, and Zahir (MB special assistant)
23/3 – was informed by MPAJ inside contact that MPAJ was shaken by the article and was followup by zahir
23/3 – MPAJ officers and contractors visit site.
24/3 – MPAJ contractors started work. At 500 pm, I had inspected the work done. About 5 percent work done.Drains found and interconnected with the drains at Puncak Athenium and run down to Hillview. Drains linking Athenium and those going to Taman hillview are totally buried.Soil soggy.Trees growing in the drain.
25/3 – Another row of drains cleared. Estimate total clearance at about 8% to date. The drains at least can be seen now. Sump broken in one place. Need engineering intervention once cleaning completed.

1/4/ – Spoke to Siti Mariam on the needs to get terrace and drain cleaned. PPTBU is required to sent a letter to officialize request. Shahrul informed

3/4 – Sorry for not updating for a long time. I was away. Inspected the site. Level 1 drain near gazebo almost cleared. There is a fountain at the base of the first terrace. This water is oozing freely (mineral water?) and if drainage not manage, it can be a problem. The oozing water actually indicates the water table and the fact that there is a sub- soil stream in the ground of our Taman.
4/4 – Level 1 terrace 80% cleaned along the Gazebo area. The drains at the base of Athenium has not been touched. Two vertical drains has been cleared.
11/4 – Another level of buried drain was unearth. It is like discovering treasures everyday. The new drain is buried partly up to 4 feet of earth.
12/4 – Inspected the drain. Rain water flowing smoothly in most areas. Some areas are still clogged. Broken sump need to be repaired. Got in touch with FRIM. They will provide list of suitable tree to plant on the terraces.
25/5 – A geotechnical engineer from Dept of Geo Science Selangor visited the site this morning with Dato Shawal. He took water samples for analysis
