Letters – Must be the season!

- Yesterday, Najib made a press release that the government would release a letter written by Tun Mahathir to the Israeli government when he was the PM. Apparently; the letter is about Malaysia’s concern on the plight of Palestinian people. I was surprised to have received an anonymous email with an attachment that consists of a letter purportedly written by Mahathir to Ehud Barak on Aug 16th 1999. For the record Ehud Barak became the Israeli PM in May 1999 for a period of 2 years.
- I am not sure if this letter is authentic would take it with a pinch of salt. It must the season of releasing government letters. Now everyone is releasing a letter. The question is how one decides whether the letter is true of fake? I am sure there must be many letters between Mahathir and Israel and obviously Najib will only release certain letters and not the other.
- Therefore I think this business of releasing letters carries little weight. As for the following letter, I think its a fake!

A fair write. But to me It’s actually asking too much from our politicians. Things have changed much to make a difference.
The popular idea is that the civil servant in particular the KSN KSU SS etc must be able to work with the PM ministers or even MBs and excos. Unfortunately Don’t see in near future this will change. We won’t get much to see people like SANy, tun Ismail Ali, TS Raja Alias, TS Azizan, Hassan Merican etc anymore. It’s a reflection of us. We don’t and can’t take independent values. Its either My way or the highway attitude. Politicians need to reward those in line with them. For example You of all person to me should be appointed as councillors for BA. But its not to be. These problem is symptomatic with our society throughout. I used to lament that those uneducated are having this problem. But now the educated middle class is likewise. Quite a sad state of affairs.

I doubt its fake…., see…the writing…a belated greeting. We ..I mean the country was in a mess…more into shit.
I also feel it came from a reputable NGO…., so it carries weight.

The letter came from Wikileak……, must have some substance…, scared..read ..don’t comment…!
The letter concerned had a cc. to The Ambassador of US.
Should check with HE. Mallot, the Ambassador at the time, for confirmation.
Maybe you should write to him. I dont have his email. Even then since Mallot has always been pro opposition in Malaysia, chances are he will say yes and that does not constitute the truth

I think your specific statement here is an unwarranted slur on the former Ambassor.
Ambassador Mallot has not disguised his distaste for some of the people currently in power or previously in power in Malaysia.
However, what he has said and written has been professionally and stated with integrity. Opinions are often debatable, but where specific facts and data have been given, I don’t recall them being proven untrue.

Mallot is rubbish. a friend of hypocrite din Merican too. I don’t like foreigners dabbling into our affairs in electing government. In the US. people like these would be condemned hanging for interference. But as usual with US, they can do onto others what they prohibit others to do. So they actively engage in changing and influencing election of foreign government favoring subservient people. I call all these people hypocrites: Mallot din and their followers.
