A regular reader and a friend, JTBA always asked me to contest as an independent candidate in the next GE. We have been putting forward arguments on why I should or should not contest as an Independent candidate. At the moment, the score is 5-1 in his favour. Another friend who is active and well connected with MIC KL and the big chief himself, asked me to stand as a BN candidate in BA in the next election. He says BN need outspoken people like me. Hmmm!
-
Past few weeks, we have been seeing how several people left PKR. All of them used the same excuse i.e. loss of confidence with the leadership or it has something to do with protecting Malay rights or protecting Islam. What is clear is that they have announced that they will become independent MPs’. Clearly none of them has officially declared that they will join UMNO or other BN component. Suddenly, I realized that JTBA is getting his wishes. Now there is a group of independent candidate who has been labelled as the 3rd force. I am not too convinced that they will be a potent 3rd force that will benefit the rakyat. I believe they will certainly be laughing to bank.
-
I hope in the next few weeks, my theory will be proven right and I will get an opportunity to gain 1 or 2 additional points to reduce the score that I have with JTBA. Right now, we will watch and see how things would develop. Putting the score aside, I would like to touch on the several candidates that have jumped out of PR ship. I am not sure whether they have gone into deep or into shallow waters.

-
Clearly most of them said that they jumped ship, because they lost confidence to the Party leadership. I don’t understand what this people mean. Are they saying that they join PKR because they liked certain individuals initially and now they no longer like them? I thought they join the party because they believe in the objectives of the party which is clearly stated in the Articles of the Association of their party. If indeed they don’t like certain individuals in the party, they should not have resigned but instead should sort things out at party elections. They should stand as a candidate for one of the party post and improve things. Walking out of a party using the reasons of losing confidence is definitely not a solution.
-
Clearly either they don’t know why they are in the party or they have their own personal agenda. I guess they saw the opportunity to become an MP, earn tax free income and earn a life time pension after 1 term. Receiving a life time pension after serving 1 term isn’t bad all. Many people have to work until 58 years to get their pension. They will now run away from their responsibilities for the Rakyat. The Rakyat certainly elected them in the last GE but I am confident that they will lose their deposit in the next election.
-
On another development we have Zulkifli Nordin (ZN) walking out of the PKR disciplinary committee. This would be a record of some sort that an accused can put a condition who they wants to hear the case. The best part is that his argument is very weak. He says that the committee is not suitable because one of the issues that are being discussed is related to the use of Allah. During a function several weeks ago where YB Azmin sat next to me he said that ZN is being hauled up for lodging a police report against a fellow PR MP (Khalid Samad). While everyone respects each other opinion, it is not right for him to lodge a police report on individuals in the same team.
-
Well at least that is what YB Azmin Ali says but in my view it is a free country and people who have brains should learn how to use them. To disagree is human. In fact, I would not be wrong to say that there isn’t a day we humans do not agree with something or someone. Equally, I feel it is ZN right to lodge a police report but that does not mean that I agree with him. Now he has lodge a report and refused to pull them back, he must now face his party for his action. Walking out of a disciplinary meeting is a cowardly act and totally unacceptable. A loud mouth lawyer suddenly cannot defend his actions in front of his peers? Instead goes around and hide behind racial and religious issue. This is another YB 1 penggal.
- Moving forward, I believe whether BN or PR, they should choose their candidates properly. Maybe party office bearers should not become ADUNs or MPs. Maybe we need to find NGO’s who fight on specific community issues to be our representatives. At least these NGO do not discriminate between skin colour and religion. Maybe I am wrong. Right now, I don’t have any political ambition and going by what is transpiring, being an Independent may not be an answer. So, JTBA be prepared to lose another point. LOLJ

Unquote
These are NOT the 3rd force that I had advocated . They claim to be INDEPENDENTS but for their own ‘ wrong ‘ reasons .
Two Party system will be good for the Nation . I believe that you said that you do not support BN ( I stand corrected ) so you will probably vote for PR ?
You hope one of them will listen to you.
Reality : Politicians do not give you a damn as soon as
you have voted . This happens in BOTH sides of
the Divide.
They will only listen if you come from a position of
strength.
You have a list of good objectives ( BA , and abandoned
house owners , etc ) , and I have some of my own – Municipality elections , conversion of land titles from leasehold to FREEHOLD.
Our agenda for the good of the common folks is obviously not the politicians’ priorities / agenda .
Give an honest assessment of the chances of the current politicians in power listening and acting on the issues that you have been advocating.
Politicians will only allow political issues to be fixed by politicians , almost just like MMA will only allow a Doctor like you treat a sick person.
If you join any Party and win a position , you would have to toe party lines , which like I said , may NOT attend to the short comings you want fixed. What then ?
I certainly wish you well to achieve all you want fixed by staying dry outside the ” political pool “.
No matter what our score will be , you have decided that politics is not your cup of tea. Probably a very wise decision
All I ask is for you to take a leap of faith and consider what you can do for others if you and another INDEPENDENT can compel either PR or BN to EFFECT your agenda in exchange for your support to be in control of the State Assembly.
Please before all and sundry attack me , I am not asking Dr. to take the millions as a payoff , BUT to make the political party to put their promise in writing to effect his agenda for his support in the State Assembly( mind you , NOT Parliament )
Even if this does not come into fruition , by the fact that DR. wins as an INDEPENDENT , it will send a kick to the groin to both PR & BN that the electorate are UNHAPPY &
DISSATISFIED with them if they do not govern FOR THE PEOPLE .
However at the end of the day , it is all FATED …. let’s see what will happen come the next GE .
Salam.
Dear Jtba,
You are a bit shallow…..when it comes to real life politics.
Advising is one thing ….the reality is another one. Pitting a party that was given half a century to correct itself and another which is hardly two years old is another factor to ponder.
My advise to you….., just stay out. Doc can decide for himself. For the matter all of us should stay out.
Changes take time…, don’ expect miracles……in two damn bloody years…… give it a chance to cultivate by itselfs.
Let the opposite work as far as POLITICS is CONCERN…,
” Let’s work with the devil we least know then the Devil we have known all along “.
Care this is sufficient for now.
Of MPs and ADUNs changing parties, this is their rights. They can move or join any party they like. I have no qualms about that, nobody should.
However, we have to take not that when ever an MP or ADUN makes a move, the impact is :
i) They betrayed the people, the voters who voted them in via the party tickets they contested on.
ii) They betrayed their friends and relatives who poured in their effforts and supports to help these MPs/ADUNs during their election campaigns and the likes
iii) They betrayed the party that put them where they are, irrespective of whether they are in tune with the leaders or party struggles.
iv) They betrayed the country’s democracy, for it is the country’s democracy that put them where they are now.
To sum it up, these are pembelots and the people (rakyats) of Malaysia cannot and should not tolerate them anymore.
So, what’s the solution of avoid such betrayals? There were talks of anti hopping laws, but then these were shot down with excuses that these laws would constitute anti human rights, for the MPs/ADUNs have their rights to their choice of association.
But then, if allowed as it is, wouldn’t this also affect the human rights of the people? The rakyats who chosed the person to represent them in the PARLIMEN or STATE ASSEMBLY?
Therefore, something need to be done to arrest this.
In this case I would propose that there is a rule or law under the EC that says :
Whenever an MP or ADUN changed/switched parties, resigned from the current parties to become independent or what so ever to that effect of possible betrayal of public votes (with the exception of those original winning as Independent canditate but later joint or co-operate with a certain political party of their choice) will automatically result in :
i) The MP/ADUN’s status and representative be frozen immediately
ii) His/her allowance be frozen immediately
iii) The EC must call for a referendum from the people of the constituencies affect to :
a) determine whether they still want the MP/ADUN as their representative (ie. by way of voting or methods that is stipulated within the EC laws, rules or regulations)
b) whether the voters want the seat vacated for election of a new representative of their choice.
iv) In doing the above, the results will determine whether a by election is required
v) if the referendum found that people (of the constituency) agrees and accept the MP/ADUNs act of switching party , the MP/ADUN’s status is reinstated, together with all the allowances that comes with it.
vi) If otherwise, the seat will be delcared vacant and the EC must call for a by election 60 days from this date.
In doing so,
The choice of who to represent them is returned to the voters, the MP/ADUN is allowed to recontest in their contituency if their respective (new party) decided so.
The MP/ADUN will then has a chance/opportunity to convey to the people why they switched and convince them to re-elect him.
Likewise, his original party will have their chances to counter the excuses or reasons given and convince that their “new” candidate can do a better job, etc.
By implementing the above regulation we can :
i) give a fair chance to the rakyat to determine their representative
ii) avoid unncessary or sudden resignation or indiscriminate/blatant abuse of the people’s trust and votes.
iii) stabilise the political situation in the country, thereby allows for economic stability and progress
iv) lessen the opportunities for corruptions (coz with this rules, buying over an MP/ADUN may not necessarily increase a parties represention in the PARLIMEN or STATE ASSEMBLY). Thus reducing the tendency of FISHING trips by the powers that be.
v) A repeat of PERAK circus/mess/farce and what not will be greatly reduced.
vi) Our ROYAL Highnesses and Judicial insititutions need not be dragged into POLITICAL battles (hopefully so……….)
viii) the people’s power restored to a respectable level.
And many more positive reasons that may be others can help list out.
Think this is a good suggestion? Any comments?
dear dear dear !
,,,sad to say, but in ‘life & living’ in this country many are just too naive.
,,,the birds are singing and the bees still stinging !.
capt.
Dear CL Lee,
As much as your suggestions are concern….., it’s a good read……, but you can only dream for it to be implemented.
Just like taking the cows to the river …..but you cannot force it to drink.
Jumping, skipping are all alike Frogs and there are all part of Life….., we have to be carefull.
Just like Capt said ‘ Bird’s keep Sing.ing… but the bee’s will still keep stinging ‘ .
My ADVISE……, in The Next PPU 13….., pick the right
‘ IDIOT’S ‘ …..then we are in safe ground.
No offence meant CL Lee.
Dr Rafick,
maybe going politics is not in your radar now, but perhaps should consider educating Msian about politics. too many of us are very naive and gullible when it comes to what’s behind the scenes (read MSM)…
Dr. Raffick,
Gua selalu support lu selagi lu tak berubah sikap
Beavie
Read my letter to MB dated 5th March 2010(Today) at http://www.phukb.wordpress.com
Please call me. Thank you
Dear beavie,
Bolih support…..anak single parent kah ?
Kalau bolih……, need to see you. Ramai…sangat…., fund pun tak chukup.
It’s always the same isn’t it ? Dr raffick, u mean well and i have grown to like what u write. We do need more people like you but i hesistate to encourage you to stand as a candidate.
Zul nordin’s episode has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Such a drastic change in the man once he became a YB ( or maybe he was always like that only he hid it better ).
power corrupts, it takes an awfully strong character to resist the temptations that power brings.
cool it bro.. I am quite firm. Right now going into politics is out of my radar.
your intentions may be clear but dr, i do not want to assume anything here. the way you blog shows you smell of politics from afar, ajar as well. hahahahah
smells ONLY….
TASTELAH.
Come lets meet at ampang point for coffee one of these days…

Dear Doc,
Thanks,…..will save that for ‘Kapas ‘ in Capt’s company.
hey, email me at idhamazraai@gmail.com
Dr.
Honestly, I think you are not cut for politics. You are too decent a man to wallow in dirt.
But should you try your luck then join any of the Pakatan parties.
Never be an independent. In Malaysia, you cannot survive as a politician. You should know why. In any case you will needs tons of your own money to campaign in the elections.
Never join BN. If you do, you will be selling your soul to the devil. UMNO is Satan’s party.
I would suggest you use you blog to open up the minds of ‘your followers’ and use your influence to get young men and omen to register as voters.
Those that have jumped ship think that they suddenly have “durian runtuh” right in their hands. Sorry, it’s going to be their greatest mistake.
Why are these 10 new frogs that naive and stupid? They think their new saviours will honestly keep to their words?
Not by any chance.
I’m afraid they have not learnt anything from the experience of the 3 earlier frogs whatsoever.
Good, as far as PR is concerned. Good riddance actually.
Raffick,
You are really Ulu Kelang MP in the making
… in the making .. hmm yes but may only be ready at PRU 25 LOL
Dear Dr. Rafick,
Just like Tan Sri…., you should forget, PKR / PAS but joint DAP……, then…, you would see the real political scenario…, of what Malaysian’s stand for..? Hope you got the picture…?
But then again …it’s your buy.
salam and good evening dr.
allow me to pen a few words down.
1. if you stand as an independent candidate in the next general election and being a PR friend independent MP, then i will take my hats off.
2. but if you stand as an independent candidate in the next general election and being a BN friendly independent MP, then i suggest you shut your blog down.
seriously, i have not met you. but, i seriously think and from the persuasive manner you write which leans mostly to the PR’s mind, i would think PR is the best place for you to be in.
let me just say this. I do not wish for you to sit there in your house and continue blogging. someday, people will meet up with you. and i think, i personally think that if you are an MP for bukit antarabangsa, the face of bukit antarabangsa will change for good.
mark my words. you will definitely bring the shine back again.
cheers and salam.
oettinger
(1) Salam
(2) Thanks for the fair opinion
(3) You did not address the issue if I don’t stand and continue doing my community service in personal and on an NGO platform + blogging at the same time …
anyway thanks for the vote of confidence. I wish I had your kind of confidence in myself
The rakyat really need selfless MPs/Aduns. YB Saari Sungib , Adun Hulu Kelang is in my opinion in this category but is bound by party line.
As an independent MP/Adun , one can be a maverick and speak for the rakyat in Parliament/State Assembly. Need to start the ball rolling. Like burger stalls/tom yam & kopitiam outlets , the numbers can mutiply quickly. Then, independent MPs/Aduns can be a force to be reckoned with to play the balancing act.
Dear AK,
If we were to consider your output……, then we will destroy the very fabric of two party system that we all yearn for.
The Third force….that we claim has been hatch by the BN after PPU 12……, knowing that they don’t stand a chance if it’s a one on one take. situation…., for let’s not steer towards their direction….., nanti memang PADAH.
Just stick to PR or BN….., then again my advise is go for change.
Dear Balasi,
After thought , you are correct. Got confused with this round of resignations.
Moving forward, I believe whether BN or PR, they should chose their candidates properly.
dr,
stand corrected. its choose.
how is everyone in here?
Dear Oettinger,
Back from holidays or what..? Hope you have recovered from your injury.
By the way …, mark my words, Dr. Raffick will be PR candidate for B.A. in PPU 13. We will be there to make sure he is elected.
Independent candidates calling themselves a third force is just a BN gimmick….to split the votes of the Rakyaat.
It should be a straight fight BN vs PR. Time to smear Shit on the face of SALEHUDDIN ( Sec -Gen PKR ) already having plans to work with BN to split the rakyaats vote.
Independant candidates should be shown the door without their pants and underwear.
Balasi
You wrote ” By the way …, mark my words, Dr. Raffick will be PR candidate for B.A. in PPU 13″
aiyo… I am sure I would not be a candidate..
Dr,
whether you like it or not, we will be showing our face to you and support you from behind.
TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!
We are going to back you from now on.
Balasingam,
Yes, I am back from Germany. I paid my working visits to the best brake pad makers in the world – zimmermann-otto and also schwaben. i also met a few people dealing with VAG group car spare parts as well.
my injury is terrible. still bad. cannot stand nor sit for too long. terrible. anyhow, i am doing great. what about you?
oettinger,
,,,have you tried swimming daily as an exercise?.
capt
injuries sustained in 1992. fractured both my fibia and tibula – on my left as well as my right. i also fractured my left upper ulna and radius.
i was in bed for about a year. could not walk. i succumb to back injuries as well. well, the L3 and C5 was affected, slipped both of it. it was a terrible accident then.
it has resulted that i cannot sit nor stand for too long. nevermind. that was 19 years ago.
yes i go swimming 3 times per week. trimming off my fats so that i do not put excess weight on both my legs. secondly, i am taking up horse riding to straighten the back.
i go for a massage once a week – not to any of the dodgy places. i have a personal physiotherapist to see to my back.
what was the head on collision all about?
teluk bahang – taking a corner on my bicycle – training for the state with my team mates – approaching dusk – did not see there was an oncoming vehicle – a motorcycle to be precise – lights were not switched on – collided into me – therefore – realized that i am in the ward the next day
now, whats next?
Ooooo I can feel the pain man.. had a smaller scale accident way back in 87… painful (in and out)
Dear Oettinger,
Can feel your pain……use to be a mat rempit in the late seventies….’ touch wood ‘ only scars to show …… must start counting my blessings.
Did you try any Ayurvedic remedies…, who know’s it might work…., doesn’t cost much either.
not really but i have read up on ayurvedic treatment.
i hear its very good!
i must try it someday. where do you suggest bala?
oettinger,
,,,do more swimming and do come over to swim in the sea at kapas island, just infront of our beach bar, we send fresh coconut out to the sea ! hehehe welcome drink with the baby sharks swimming along side at times too !.
,,,be prepared not wanting to go back to the city hehehe…a week on the island will put your body back in good shape and others will not recognise you when you are back.
,,,its very healthy living out here.
Dear Capt,
I will make sure Oettinger tacks along with us when we visit Kapas.
Bro’s must take care of Bro’s.
Your motto I assume….., but my priority tommorrow is different. Will visit Amrit after work and see to …. needs.
Dear Oettinger,
Will email to you ASAP after work tommorrow. Take care.
balasi,
,,,i lost my late brother in a motorbike accident in 1983 and until today it still pains me !.
,,,lost many buddies in the jungle fighting against the CTs too and now against dirty/corrupted politicians in our country !.
,,,looking for cats that catches rats not those becoming ratty in kind after being elected or selected. Then jumping ship while we are sailing in rough weather. Holy shit !.
,,,if you want to succeed, you have to forge new paths and avoid borrowed ones that promise success…indeed i could go on and on telling you score of real life incidents but all have the same message-lah, store them in your memory bank, and let them be your guidinglight and propellant towards great discoveries, creations and enterprises. Thereafter, may your rich and fullfilling life spill over, and enrish others too.
,,,use of the right words and language does help too yaa ?.
Dear Capt,
Forgive me if…, I was partly involved for you to recollect your past…., then again we all had these experience.
As a Bro…., I will adhere to you…, if you feel it’s time to be specific…, then so be it…., it’s about time to be so.
Will name them by name…., so the rest will not be offended even if they were not even in the picture.
Any more advise capt..?
Dear Ottinger,
I’m doing fine so are the rest…., just that Dr. Amrit lost his dad……, he should be back after 7/3/……
Anyway we are planning a retreat in Capt’s,
” Kapas Island “……, will keep you informed…, Take care Bro. who know’s a swim in the Island might do a whole lot good to your injury.
email me details mate at idhamazraai@gmail.com
leave me your contact no and i will call you up to hook things up from there.
Dear Oettinger,
Please check your mail….., will only be up after 2.00pm…….., please call.
Then again call the number given…., speak to them about your problems…. but don’t commit.
Let me digest them from my BRO.
could you please send me dr amrit’s contact no via my email address stated and i will make contact with him. i need to send my condolence to him.
thank you balasi
Oettinger,
I had send you a mail ……, but then no reply……, it….does speak volumes of BRO’s., Some just chicked out….., because of fear of been Misled…., no fear…trust in GOD.
All your request was in the mail just that the day for the retreat…., has never been finalise, since Amrit is still mourning.
Dr. Raffick, you have no chance to stand under Umno banner. Such spots are hotly competed for by Umno warlords. MIC bigwig connection? Sorry, no dice. These bigwigs will be slaughtered by Umno taking back some seats from their component parties come next election. The reason – minority parties ineffective, Umno must reach out directly.
Stand as independent in Bukit Antarabangsa in 3 corner fight will split votes for PR and BN wins. If you can persuade PR to let you stand as independent under their banner then you’ll slaughter the BN candidate. I trust you won’t become a “BN friendly independent?” ha! ha!
I would also suggests that PR search deep amongst civil servants who were really honest and earn their bread and butter the halal way . I’m sure and very confident that there are senior govt servants who really know what is wrong or right and had the guts to reject ‘orders’ made by BN . All PR has to do is to open their eyes and look around . Not all civil servants are sub servient to UMNO and BN . I know because I’m one of them.
Zack, I salute you and I have met quite a few like you in the Government service but they have always been sidelined because they refused to play ball but stuck to their principles of neutrality.
These Government Servants will do their work diligently without expecting anything in return but there are those who will put a spanner in the works and try to sabotage them. It sickens me when I come across cases like this in the course of my work.
The only way this Country can move forward is with a change in Government and I would definitely not want Dr Rafick, should he decide to go into politics, to stand as a BN candidate.
Politics is very dirty and it is best that we have some people outside of politics to try to keep the politicians relatively clean. It is much easier with PR politicians but next to impossible with BN politicians as they are too entrenched in their ways.
Melvin
Please check your email and call me.. very urgent. tq
Dear Zack,
You and the rest that are still serving as Civil Servant’s are ‘ diamonds among the glasses”, stick through thick and thin….., you will reap what you sow….., just don’t forgo the PRINCIPLE’S that you all adhere to.
God Bless.
wow!! the Big chief of MIC no less. My fren, choose BN, stand for 1 term n u got it made dude hahahahahahaahah
Ya mangchik..
1 penggal… make tons of money.. and pension for life…. Dalam askar, kena hentak kaki 22 tahun baru dapat pencen, kasut but pun dah hancur
