A few weeks ago, someone commented on my bIog and suggested that I looked into the formation of Voter’s Association (VA) for BA. Several other readers commented and encouraged me to do the same. Subsequently, I received emails from three of my blog readers on why I did not respond or react to those comments in my blog. They felt and insisted that I should look into. Over the last 3 weeks, in between of work, leisure, travel and a lousy and never ending tooth problem which necessitate a regular visit to the dentist, I did some reading into the matter and study on what is being done in other countries.
-
An avid reader by the nickname JTBA insisted that I should stand as an independent candidate along with him in the next election. He feels that as independents we can make a difference at assemblies. I had to decline as politics is not my forte. I don’t have the necessary skills to be a politician. It sounds complicated but easier illustrated with an example. I have accepted a long time ago that some can become politicians and others can become supporters. In my case I can only be a supporter. Simply because I have a no nonsense attitude and cannot say yes to something that goes against my conscious.
-
Over the last two nights TV 3 prime news presented a story where MBPJ demolished an illegal hall. The hall is an illegal structure. It has been in existence since 2006. It did not have any CF. The operator occupying the premises was running a business of teaching the skills of reciting the Quran. Despite repeated notices asking the operators of the premises to vacate, the operators refused to listen. MBPJ had no choice and work along the lines of law. In rare moments where the local authority showed that they have the necessary political will, they demolished the illegal structure. TV3 portrayed the inhumane action of the Selangor government. It showed a scene where a group of children continue to learn and reciting the Quran in the midst of the demolished walls. It was an act of making use of children for political purpose.
-
TV3 interviewed some kids. They showed two kids shed tears and questioned why MBPJ did such a cruel act. One child literary beg for the authorities to rebuilt the structure. The scene is akin to the Jews denying the Palestine children their homes. The residents carried banners. An outsider wearing a blazer claims to be the residents spoke person gave his hard hitting and slanting political view. Last night TV3 news showed the same scene again but this time it interviews MBPJ as well as interviewed an UMNO ADUN from another area that came to the residents. He was shown as a martyr defending the rights of the oppressed residents but he did not offer any legal and suitable solution.
-
This is one skilled politician. He was willing to defend something that is wrong from the point of law. He made use of kids for his political mileage on the pretext of being a caring person. I don’t have that skill. I am too damn rigid and not flexible enough. I don’t have the skill to smile and have a lovely chat with someone who stabs me behind my back. For that reasons I cannot be a politician. Sometimes I wonder how some politicians can be so hypocrite. Having said that, we need politicians to govern. It is part of the system.
-
I guess as far as politics is concern, I am left with two options. Vote for the lesser of the two evils and then govern our ADUN and MP. The idea of a Voters association is not new but it has been going around for decades under the name of lobbyist. History showed that the term lobbyist was coined in the lobby of British Parliament where they try to influence the MP’s whenever a matter comes to vote. In the US, the corporate world plays a major role where they use money and offered positions to MP’s for pushing specific agendas.

-
Officially the real lobbyist has yet to mature in Malaysia. True lobbyist’s are not loyal to any political party but are loyal to agendas.
Their objective is about getting their agenda’s across via the politicians. The office bearers are not politician and the VA members are not the member of any political party.
-
A solid and effective VA plays their cards well. A VA can actually swing the votes in any particular State Assembly Area or Parliamentary if the members decide to vote en bloc. A VA will not make a decision based on political party but on the candidate and its offering. It can really ensure that our appointed representative serves the people effectively. If a VA is strong, it can even dictates on the need to have its own appointed official representatives in the local council and various legislative subcommittee. The challenge that I foresee is to get members to vote en bloc i.e. to speak with one voice and act as one team.
-
After much thought I felt it is time to give it a serious consideration. This will be my 2010 project. I would like to explore the opinions of the residents of BA as well as the opinions of my readers on the viability of such association and the downside. What would be the stumbling blocks? What does VA members should ask for? Do voters really know what we want beyond drain and street maintenance? How do we keep political party members from infiltrating a VA and spoil everything. How do we ensure that VA stays on its course and ensure its office bearers from betraying its members? Should we start at DUN level and grew along and have a state and a national level association? It is time for ordinary citizen to stand and make a stand.

3. That’s some start for the new year 2010, eh…??
Keep cool, dudes !
Dr Raffick
If you could recall, I wrote in one of your previous posting that you should join one political party FAST( of course not BN ), we really need right-thinking, honest and clean politicians like you. We do not want you be like those that you described in para 5. That is the kind of politician we want to vote them out.
Think about it again.

I believed you will not lose your deposit if you contest.
Maybe it might be a good idea to get Zainal Abidin (Headwind) and Maya Karim as they are comtemplating to set up a greeny political (independent) party for the next election.
Hmmm …
dr,
,,,just get the 30687 online !?….and you are on your way !. for example, Best to utilize sms to link them onboard…since almost everyone has an hp with them. Communication is the key driver here plus education. Organise and carry out ‘gotong-royong’ to clean-up the rubbish etc plus…. listen, listen, listen…hear them out. Build up an army of ANTs to battle against the Elephants that are destroying our livelihood plus nation. As you learn more, you will come to know how you can have, be, or do anything you want. You will indeed come to know who you really are and capable of. You will come to know the true magnificence of nation building together with the rest. Lead them through your vision, bring joy to all again as true Malaysian.
,,,A revolution, or sort of, from an feudalistic society like ours is unusual unless led from above or from someone VERY dynamic. To get the balancing act right has its advantages and disadvantages plus, there are obligations to be catered for, as such for a feudalistic society to change indeed would be a BIG challenge. Really, no kidding here.
,,,Too much misinterpretation that needs corrective actions via constructive criticism etc etc,,and ACTION, action, action again ask yourself, are you the man or dr. for it.?.
i rest my case.
Dr. Rafick ,
Happy New Year . New Challenges for us all.
You said .. ” Simply because I have a no nonsense attitude and cannot say yes to something that goes against my conscience ” as the reason why you cannot be a politician .
The usual Politicians are ” controlled & dictated ” by their Party’s agendas .
I asked that you run as an INDEPENDENT who can be guided by principles & your personal standards and NOT be controlled by the Party’s agendas.
It is because that you have a ” no nonsense attitude ” that made me single you out to be a good potential INDEPENDENT.
The VA concept is good but you had identified the challenges .
The biggest obstacle is that it may be classified as a political party and the ROS will give the VA lots of challenges and no ruling government will ‘ kow-tow ‘ to another political party as they will always adopt a ” you are with us , or against us ” attitude .
The BN or PR may show that they will listen to you and play along with your VA’s wishes , but as soon as they win what are the chances they will translate their ‘ promises ‘
into action . A good example is the PR manifesto for municipality elections , but then when they got into power
in certain states , they have their load of excuses .
Polticians have only 1 agenda ….. their own survival.
The VA’s can scream and shout for all you want but the politicians already have the 4 years , and the same mistake will be repeated in the next round .
The VA’s will be a political version of Residents Associations . I respectfully have my reservations on its success in getting the attention of the political parties especially after they have won any elections .
The political parties will only listen from those of a position of strength .
There are 52 State seats for Selangor . If there are 2 , or 3
or 4 INDEPENDENTS having won the next GE , these will be the “KINGMAKERS” , who MAY decide who governs Selangor. The qualification would be that these INDEPENDENTS need to be folks of integrity who will not
join any other party for the millions .
Dr. Rafick , you are one of those.
INDEPENDENTS must remain independent .
The INDEPENDENTS will then power broker for their common agendas ( similar to those of the VA’s ? ) for the sake of the followers and ” common folks ”
To ensure that the INDEPENDENTS do not leap frog to the highest political party bidder , the INDEPENDENTS must enter a contractual agreement to pay a multi million ringgit penalty to each other if they do not remain as
INDPENDENTS . This will protect the voters who voted for them as well .
I respect your earlier decision not to run as an INDEPENDENT , but may I suggest that you look into your Children’s eyes ,and reconsider for the sakes of their children as well.
Lastly , as fellow Muslims , I believe nothing anyone says will change your decision unless it is Fated .
Salam

well argued… you have put up some very convincing arguments. Happy new year to you and family
Easy said than done.Dun Bkt Antarabangsa has 20,000plus registered voters.Only 2,053 voters are residing in BA,the rest are partly in Keramat,Kg Melayu Ampang etc.Maybe they are not interested in our local issue in BA.Unless you can bring them all into one common isue and agenda, the idea of forming a VA of BA is still far frm becoming a reality.Anyway good luck to you and who knows it can be realised in future.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010 !!!
VA is good, in theory. BUT in practice, you have sensed the possible pitfalls.
I dare to venture to say that there is a real possibility of VA being another HINDRAF, being hijacked by the various factions when it turns into a force to be reckoned with.
drrafick,
,,,Large-scale corruption by high-level public officials—kleptocracy—is a particular threat for democracy and rule of law in our country. Such corruption undermines financial accountability, discourages foreign investment, stifles economic performance, and diminishes trust in legal and judicial systems.
,,,Kleptocracy is indeed a development issue, because high-level corruption undermines economic development and renders important issues, such as the fight against poverty, ineffective.
,,,We are not wrong to assume that in many if not all of our Govn. Ministries, kleptocrats have lined their own pockets instead of funding development, such as new roads, schools, and hospitals. Proper procurement of defence equipments etc etc. and the acquisition of goods and/or services at the best possible total cost of ownership, in the right quality and quantity, at the right time, in the right place and from the right source for the direct benefit or use of the nation.
,,,Lobbyist has to develop new ways to deny corrupt officials access to the wealth they have accumulated through corrupt activities, and they have been employing new ways to target their assets.
,,,The strategy should also take the fight against high-level corruption to a new level by involving both local and foreign partners and financial institutions in more robust efforts to develop best practices for uncovering and seizing stolen funds, enhance information sharing, and ensure greater accountability for all Federal and State government project developments.
,,,Two crucial aspects of the fight against kleptocracy are the denial of safe haven to corrupt officials and Asset Recovery & proper dispersion of the proceeds of corrupt acts.
…Suggest that these are the areas that our Local VA or Malaysian Lobbyist should concentrate on from 2010 onwards !!. AND am dead sure, you will have our full support too.
To Victory !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahoo-Ahoo-Ahoo !!!!!!!!!!
I think you have forgotten that everything in Malaysia needs a lesen from the government. I don’t think ROS will give their consent for this VA, so it may never see the light of day. But I stand corrected, if the good Dr can get it!
I am sceptical that a VA just comprising of common people can work.
There already exist lobbyist just that they are not transparent. How do you figure BN & BA can have so much political fund . They must have come from the lobbyist – Corporate Big Guns, The Guilds, The Triads both local and foreign.
The recent call by Transparency Malaysia that a new law be enacted to make politicak funds transparent and accountable is I must say a very good idea. If only the Government take heed !
I believe our voters are matured enough and with the advent of bloggings a fair and balance information are now available to voters for them to choose their MPs & Aduns.
I am for one propogating that political parties not waste money for political campaigns and rallies to solicit votes. Many of us know who we will vote but campaigns to me are waste of time and money. Why can’t our TV and media allocate fair allocation of slots so that the various political parties are given fair opportunites to campaign to the masses. It is the same people that the parties are soliciting isn’t it ! I would love to see one day when a big arena can be used by all the contesting candidates to woo voters. The voters are same just that only them know who they will vote .
Yes, I think you should.
I think issues you’re bringing up are beginning to be of discomfort to those in power.
Your role as an ADUN and/or MP would give legitimacy and clout to the issues that you intent to bring up.
Your voters are your “bullet-proof vests”.
I think RPK’s predicament would have been much easier than now had he been an elected representative.
You would be incomparable to the current crop of ADUNs/MPs.
Happy New Year doc and all the best for 2010.
hey doc,
we are in the same boat. if you want to be a politician, a successful one that is, hypocrisy is not in your vocab. may be except for a very few select. Karpal Singh comes to mind.
TO ALL ON THIS BLOG AND ESPECIALLY TO DR. RAFICK.
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND BEST WISHES TO 2010.
Happy new year to all. Tomorrow the tarik is up 20 cents.. Aiyo
drrafick
Happy New Year 2010 everyone.
Just to add to the harga teh tarik issue.
The government will spend $1.008 billion for the year, at $0.80 per kilo. This equals 1,260,000,000 (1.26 billion) kilograms of sugar per year. This equals a consumption figure of 45 kilograms of sugar per year for every man, woman, children, baby, grandfather, grandmother etc, or 3.75 kilograms a month.
Me thinks that this is another great black hole draining the country’s coffers dry, another teat to be milked dry. It does not amaze me that one of the richest man in the country (whom I think has migrated to HK or Macau or something) is also known as the sugar king…
Azhar,,
He has sold his entire stake for RM 2.4 Billion (a bit of doubt on this figure), of his Sugar Business Empire, to the Government.
Yes, the sugar king sold his stake & migrated.
But that is not the issue here. The issue is “Is it possible for Malaysians to consume 1.26 billion kilogrammes of sugar a year?” or is there a huge leak here?
Definately proliferation and leakages of cash.
Sugar King had been requesting the Government to take sugar off the control item list, with the interest to set the price by his trading office, but BN refused thinking that it would become catostraphic. He could have even set the prices lower. He had the monopoly of Raw material, his own shipping from the sources and suppliers, processing.
Now,, there is something that the Sugar King did not hand over to the Government, the sources of raw sugar suppliers, shipping, the price at what he is purchasing raw sugar, he has bought up the sulawesi sugar cane plantations, which happens to be one of the main sources of raw sugar. He had tied up ties with Fijian Indian Raw Sugar Suppliers and as well as Australian, Brazilian, Indonesian and Indian.
Basically saying he has caught the government by its b_ _ _s. Rakyat will be the end casualty.
While BN will be using this as a que to prolifertae and finance their bankrupt companies.
drrafick, my take b4 the final count down !
,,,Reflecting the various events in this world, it would make one realize that it is politics not religion as the most poisonous and corrupt scam invented by man to oppress others. !!.
,,,God or Heaven forbid (that) you should do anything illegal;–(
i rest my case !.
The bottom line is money Doctor!
They say every donkey has its price !
If it is a lazy & stupid donkey – just RM25.00
So if that donkey is a bit smart he or she gets RM25 Million!
If another is smarter they will get USD25 million!
If amongst the four the fourth is the most cunning, then he/she will get USD25 Billion!
So unless these goons are not corrupted & love only money we are always at the losing end, at the end of the day!
We vote them in first time, first year perfect, second year a bit rusty, by the third year he is no where to be seen, he has made enough money and his pension funds and plans are done for!
He does not care for the fourth year..that is a norm for Malaysian politicians who are there to MAKE IT BIG TIME!
NOT TO MAKE US HAPPY, SORRY BROTHER….
THERE ARE ONLY 3 IMPORTANT THINGS TO remember, and to MAKE IT TO BE GOOD IN POLITICS:
1St – Must be a good liar/cheat/con artist !
2nd – Same as the first !
3rd – Applicable to all the above !
As you rightfully said, they can smile, shake your hands, hug you, kiss you and have a good laugh, before you can turn around they can stab you from the back!
Good politicians area a rare & dying breed !
But before I start, let me congratulate Dr. Rafick for his achievements, a millions hits. Dr. Rafick sticks his head out to champion for his community in BA. But, does everyone appreciate it? Maybe, it is time to change, and to learn how to appreciate.
I do agree with Dr. Rafick that the VA should not loyal to any political party but are loyal to agendas. To achieve this, followers (supporters or whoever) must change (more correctly, to strengthen) its mindset first.
Just like everyone else, come every New Year, almost each of us has a wish or what is simply called New Year’s resolution. Year end has always been a time for looking back to the past, and more importantly, forward to the coming year. It is a time to reflect on the changes we want or need to make and resolve to follow through on those changes. So, it may be a good time to do so (to change).
So, what it takes to ‘change’ (your mindset)?
1. Top of the list is to have an open mind. To have an open mind means to be willing to consider or receive new and different views or opinions. It means being flexible and adaptive to new experiences and ideas. It also means that you will win some and loss some; not necessary a win-win situation. Cultivating an open mind is part of critical thinking and reasoning. People who are open-minded are willing to change their views when presented with new facts and evidence. Those who are not, and are resistant to change will find life frustrating as theirs are filled with disappointments as ‘things do not go their way’.
2. Recognize that you have a choice. How you interpret comments, criticism and challenges is your choice. You can interpret them in such that you ‘accept’ it with grace, or alternatively, you can also totally ignore it. It’s up to you. Getting angry, upset or disappointed will not change the fact or situation.
3. Take action to change. There are many ways to change it, but the easiest way is by starting to observe your thinking process. Ask yourself why? Why did he/they said that, and more importantly, why did I said this? When you learn how to do that, you will find no difficulty in understanding other people’s views (or least, better). This way, you will gradually start feeling better inside.
4. If you have done this, then you ARE READY for ‘change’. Share the good and positive ’things’ with relatives, friends and acquaintances. SHARE, NOT BRAINWASH THEM.
Till then, GOOD LUCK & have a HAPPY NEW YEAR to Dr. Rafick and all.
Welcome back katakini..happy new year
drrafick
Kata Kini,, SS Akal
Your 3 points on ‘change’ are tailored and applicable to self conciousness development.
Your points might not be relevant to Nation Building.
The thing that’s killing this nation is ‘Silence from the Masses or the Rakyat’.
Why are they silent?
1.
The Non Transparent Mentallity for 52 years by UMNO/BN controlled Government, has developed a mentallity for ‘Quick to Forget on Important Issues by Society’ or ‘Cepat Lupa’
2.
MSM (Newspapaers to Peoples Income Tax Financed RTM) has been drumming the voices of BN Ministers as the best for the society and country. Until now when so much has been exposed and yet the Government Bureaucrats, are way laying and covering up the Ministers.
3.
There is not even an iota of honesty, being displayed from any circles that are suppose to enforce action, against criminal activities against ministers and government servants.
4.
OSA and ISA is a “Sharp Edged Sword of Domicile, Hovering Over the Heads of Concious Minds”, whose freedom could be curtailed, by the swipe of a pen.
5.
There are many Repressive Laws in this country, that had been enacted and bulldozed in Parliament all these 52 years.
6.
These laws are being flip floped by the BN Government and have been having the edge, due to its 2/3 majority and have benn against the opposition. Only people like Karpal, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Anwar Ibrahim and All who have gone through this ordeal are in the best of knowledge to speak on it.
When will the Rakyat learn about this dirty game being played by BN and take the Right Steps to have Peoples Power as a Front Runner?
By the way latest news,, Sugar price is up by 0.20 cents, its RM 1.65 cents a Kilo. Lets be prepared for worse news at our disposal.
Sat Sri Akaal ji
Agree with you to a certain extend. Then again, to build a Nation, individuals need to change (its mindset) first. Malaysians are submissive in nature, if I could say correctly.
A submissive (or passive) nature means shying away from saying what one really mean and not seeking to achieve their needs, particularly when someone else has conflicting needs. A submissive person avoids upsetting others either because they fear them or they fear to hurt their feelings.
Look around you, how many ‘yes men’ have you came across? How many dare to stand up and voice their opinion? Maybe, you military guys are exception as you are ‘trained’ to stand up for yourself. People fear to voice out because they fear the ‘repercussions’ of their action. In addition, they want to remain anonymous; so their names are not smeared when things do not go right. They want to remain popular. Despite Dr. Rafick stood out for his neighbours and community, many still think he may be a pain in butt; because he is too vocal. These so called ‘nice people’ would say, “he should not say this and that”. They wanted to be ‘talam dua muka’; benefiting from both side. They want to have a nice environment and yet do not want to do or contribute anything. But what did they contribute?
In addition, we Malaysians are kiasu. They want to benefit all the time and not sacrificing anything. How many readers still buy NST and Utusan if they think they are mouthpiece of UMNO? Why are many so-called BAlternative supporters still patronize places where UMNO ownership and support can be found? Don’t you think that they are supporting them (funding) their indirectly; to fight for against their ‘beliefs’? Stop taking your kids to these places. Then, it is a good start. Otherwise, kiasu will be kiasu; worst a bigot.
We live in a feudalistic society where datuk/dato’s ‘rules the world’. It looks like these datuk/dato’s (and Tan Sris, et cetera) have special ‘power’; where they can be let off scot free, even when they sometimes act in contravene to the law. It is the basis by which the upper ‘nobility class’ (these datuk/dato’s) maintained control over the lower classes. It still does and still will. Why do you think the rich are ‘buying’ (either directly or indirectly, such as being a contributor to a association or foundation) a datukship? It’s all in the mindset.
BTW, Happy New Year
THE ANT PHILOSOPHY !! ..Mr. dr Semut ?
,,,,O.K. guys/buddies the new year 2010 beginning has just passed hours away, guess lets have some fun reading this too, it has its lessons too if you read it carefully !!
1st PART PHILOSOPHY ANTS NEVER QUIT !!
…If they’re headed somewhere and you try to stop them, they’ll look for another way. They’ll climb over, they’ll climb under, they’ll climb around.
…They keep looking for another way.
LESSON: To never quit looking for a way to get where you’re supposed to go.??.
2nd PART PHILOSOPHY ANTS THINK WINTER ALL SUMMER ?!.
,,,You can’t be so naïve as to think summer will last forever. So ants are gathering their winter food in the middle of summer.
,,, You’ve got to think rocks as you enjoy the sand and sun.
LESSON: It is important to be realistic. Think ahead !!.
3rd PART PHILOSOPHY ANTS THINK SUMMER ALL WINTER-lah !
,,,During the winter, ants remind themselves, “This won’t last long; we’ll soon be out of here.” At the first warm day, the ants are out. If it turns cold again, they’ll dive back down, but then they come out the first warm day.
LESSON: Stay positive at all times.
4th PART PHILOSOPHY ALL-THAT-YOU-POSSIBLY-CAN !!
,,,How much will an ant gather during the summer to prepare for the winter? All that he possibly can.
LESSON: Do all you can….and more!
IN A NUT SHELL… FOUR-PART ANT’s PHILOSOPHY
,,,Never Give Up !!
.. Look Ahead !!
.. Stay Positive!!
.. Do All You Can ??
“Don’t be encumbered by history, just go out & do something wonderful”…Happy New Year 2010…and dr rafick just do what you want to do.
Just be like an ANT (semut)….its not that bad !!….in fact, its bloody GOOD !!. Gajah also can pijak but cannot kill it.
,,,BUT just watch out for ‘Joe’ the Snake too !! hahaha.
Kata Kini, Sat Sri Akaal Ji,
Yes Change!!!! what we need most is Informative Knowledge, which causes the triggering mechanism, in the mind to go for the CHANGE.
How do we deliver this Informative Knowledge to the masses, that we are talking about?
Media!!!!! Presently, One that I can gather a lot of Spicey and Informative Messages are Malaysiakini and Malaysia Today(MT). The contibutors to those news portals are professional and productive.
I am not saying our or other blogs here are 2nd class. These blogs are discussive and productive too. The bottom line is Media. Informaion has to be factual in nature and progressive, where it is soothing and common denominator to all ears.
That means no condemnation of religion and race. You have your religion, so be it and we shall all respect each others. No glorifying of Religion through Media.
There is only to be a Single Race in Malaysia and that is Malaysian.
I still don’t appreciate Najib’s 1 Malaysia. Its a fallacy. He is not walking the talk, simply because the repressive policies, mentallity and habits, of malaysian civil service has not been emphassised to be changed at all. No circular that says Quota Systems are abolished, which means the daily chores of administration remains as it is.
What a hipocracy and whom are these UMNO fellows fooling?
This also goes to say that the Majority Side Lined Malays, will still be left unattended as long as UMNO connection is working, for UMNO Coterie Only. As for Non Malays its the same old story, see your Race Based Party Leaders, and get help.
Bloody Hell its my Tax Money for the Rakyat and only a small number of Party Coterie Gang will be Enjoying it.
My Motion is Informative Knowledge via MEDIA.
Capt,,
Hats off to you!!!! Well phrased and described. We need also to high lite and discuss certain repressive issues, so that this can be eliminated from being practiced, to bring about the ‘Change’, for a Better Tommorrow. TQ.
Capt
Thanks for your ‘ant’ philosophy. So simple and yet we did not use it as our daily mantra. BTW, there is no “I” in ants, but always “WE”; teamwork.
Dr. Amrit
We all know that our mass media is inclined toward the Government objectives. They will sing a different tune once a new government takes over. As mentioned, Malaysians are submissive, and always a ‘yes man’. Do they dare to act independent? Probably not, they will always toe the line. With all these Government mentality, you can assure that this will continue till the cows come home.
In my opinion, our government’s policy on civil servants is one of the pathetic in the world. Our so-called leaders want Malaysia to be a developed country. If you ask me, it is a BIG JOKE. As long the civil servant are not punish for their wrong doing, they will still continue to act; arrogantly. Do you know how our public servants penalty? At most, they are transfer to somewhere else. Let’s say that if you a Land Officer and you did some magic and some properties were transferred. And when you are found guilty of ‘mishandling’ the case, you will be transfer. No charge (usually). Those got caught are just for statistical purposes; ikan bilis usually. Buayas sama sharks usually get away scot free.
As I have mentioned earlier, the 1Malaysia is merely a PR campaign. It is a campaign to position (or re-position) his policies to be a fair and just in the eyes of Malaysia, especially since the political tsunami in March 2008. It is a perception game. Until now, he is doing a ‘good job’. It is said that the economy has improved so much since he took office. Mind you, all other world economy move the same way. Ours is still lembab. Hong Kong and Singapore had doubled.
If Najib is serious of unity, he should first dismantle the racial block; all who are born in Malaysia after Merdeka will be considered ‘Native’. Everyone would be considered Bumiputra. Malaysia is one of the unique countries where policies are to protect the majority; not the minorities. Hmmm … mana belajar, gua tak tahu. Pasti bukan di Oxford atau Cambridge. Hope education from Nottingham helps.
As on how can we deliver the Informative Knowledge to the masses, my take is to exploit the SMS (text messaging). It has had a major impact on the political world. Obama used it wisely. It is a much easier, cheaper way of getting to the audiences (voters) than the door to door approach or even email. Filipinos had great success in their political campaign to get rid of Estrada in 2001. People have organized themselves and coordinated their actions through text messaging. They were able to bring down a government without having to use any weapons or violence. Through text messaging their plans and ideas were communicated to others and successfully implemented. The fact remains that almost everyone owns a mobile phone in comparison with internet. Everyone read their message in mobile, most don’t even bothered to read their emails. That is also why Twitter is so popular.
If many is really serious about VA, you must start now. As it takes a long time to get your message (and your ‘Brand’) across. Hope to get coverage from the mass media may be limited. Who knows, he might be lucky. I am ready to share my 1 sen worth (cheaper than the original two cents).
Kata Kini SS Akaal,,
Lets take que, of the present situation. We know the slying of BN administration of management. What we are not familiar is, suppose given the next opportunity, how PR would administer and manage the country.
Given the short period that PR has had in the states, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel. Its just that the authorities are dragging their feet, in retrospect to the efficiency of PR politicians.
Since we are fully aware through blogs and messages, of the let down, being shown by Civil Servants towards the good administration by PR Government, lets turn the table on BN and vote in PR at Federal Level. These same Civil servants will have to draw their line and take marching orders from PR Minsters.
PR Ministers do not have any agendas up their sleeves, to please their financial masters and any bankrupt companies. BN forwards finance from Rakyats Tax Money, through dubious means to please their Coetrie of people.
By a change in Government ultimately, we’ll have Peoples Government and not A Robbing of People Government (BN).
What we can keep delivering is the good news, of PR practices through this channels? In this manner the PR politicians will not deviate, from good administration to folly practices.
Well!!!! You might have another or any other suggestions.

Pakatan actually have many capable candidates in their camp. Sadly, there are as many and equally bad candidates that spoilt the whole lot; just like a bad apple spoiling the basket.
Pakatan must have the political will to rid all its poor, weak, non-committed and self-interest leaders (whom had jumped camp from the ruling party). The recent re-appointment of Jeffrey Kitingan back to PKR is seems to be a bad judgment. But, what choice does PKR has?
PKR has its problems with some of its leaders; Mr. “Kulim” is one example. PAS has two-factions in its fold; where one is more incline to race rather than religion. They are pro-UMNO. Here in Malaysia, race is still the operative agenda.
DAP seems to be doing the right thing. However, many DAP ‘heros’ (yang pandai pandai sangat) and does not understand team spirit and teamwork; acting on their own to champion for his constituency. They do not understand that they have their party’s code of conduct. Selangor has several of these ‘heros’. They are the cause of in-fighting in party; including in Pakatan.
If Pakatan is serious in the next election, they MUST have the political will to rid all these ‘pests’. Anwar should vacate his leadership and only act as an advisor, and make room for more charismatic individual. He has too much baggage to carry. He must explain to the nation his reasons for his ‘withdrawal’. I’ve heard many are willing to give Pakatan a chance, but with Anwar, they have reservations. Sacrifice like this will give Pakatan a new shine, and probably seeing ‘someone else’ other than Anwar to be our next premier. Who this ‘someone else’ is would be hard to determine. The question is that; “is Anwar willing to sacrifice?”
Someone asked me why can’t Pakatan work together like those in Barisan. I shared my opinion with them that they do not have a common ‘goal’. Barisan candidates knew well about their ‘goal’; which is to make money. Unless and until all these Pakatan candidates come together with a SAME ‘GOAL’, I will say that they will not succeed. It will have the same faith if their common ‘goal’ is to make money. Maybe to serve the nation with ‘Competency, Accountability and Transparency’ might be a good start.

You just DEVIATED, from your very basic principal of “CHANGE”.
CHANGE is only possible if things are brought to the OPEN.
The very people you said, having baggages are the very people, who have high lighted the very wrong practices of BN leaders. This is the 1st step to CHANGE.
Opening of The Pandora Box and All Under the Carpet Issues, regarding the Peoples Resources are more Important then, the trivial issues Screwing of an Ass (what ever his name is)
Do you know the Amount Of Baggages, that are being carried by the Ruling Leaders in The Cabinet?
Off course you don’t but, only can pressume.
Why? Because no action is being taken on them.
I prefer Anwar and all the other PR leaders being, exposed.
Where we will be right in the position, to identify between the Devil and Saint. Than I can look to the word “CHANGE”.
Otherwise suggest to me your defination of ‘CHANGE’.
Dr. ji
Wah … a tough man to have a dialogue.
Anyway, here is my two sen worth. But before this, a ‘disclaimer’ might be useful, just in case you get me all wrong. I may not be the most qualified candidate to speak about ‘CHANGE’, but I still share my views.
The ‘first’ change is about individual’s changing of mindset. It needs the willpower of that individual (to change their mindset). And on the ‘change’ mentioned by you, it needs the willpower of the masses (to change the environment). Simply put, it is an organized system to accomplish a goal for both. But, their common factor is that is has a systematic approach to it. Not sure, what you have in mind, but appreciate your views (as a Dr. too). For what I know, I may be talking nonsense, right?
Back to politics, I do agree with you about ‘the baggage’ (from both ends). However, it is the change of mindset of masses to execute the change that is necessary. This ‘CHANGE’ requires the change of mindset, attitudes and behavior. It is a change in mindset, attitudes and behaviour as basis to build a ‘Knowledge Society’. That is the catch phrase; “Knowledge Society’.
As mentioned earlier, communication is one of trickiest part; otherwise, these politicians would have been able to garner the support if they have found the ‘Holy Grail’. People need to be ‘educated’ before a change. But how, might be your next question? My take is that the fastest and cheapest (not really that cheap. Cheapest is internet, but the reach is limited) is text messaging. Not everyone has an internet connection. Most would have a mobile phone. That’s it.
Sidetracking a bit, I have just acquired a new Notebook with Vista OS. It’s really a pain in the neck. Looks like my weekend will be used to format the new Notebook. What a wonderful and painful way to spend the first weekend for 2010. Anyone out there getting a new computer system, I would recommend that they either stick with the old and tested Windows XP or try the new Windows 7. Windows VISTA sucks big time.
guys,
,,,this is just a simple change process and there are just 4 key elements of CHANGE…in reprogramming the mindset for whatever subject matter for change.
1. Awareness – you can’t change anything unless you know it exists.
2. Understanding – where your ‘way of thinking’ originates from ?.
3. Disassociation – chose the ‘present’ whether to keep it or let it go ?. – based on who you are ‘today’ and where you want to be ‘tomorrow’. – o.k. go for truth and value added proposition-lah.
4. Reconditioning – place your hands on your heart and say,,,,,,”DECLARATION – DECIDE AND AGREE UPON YOUR GENERAL gOaLS and AtTITuDEs.”
,,,”Who gives a hoot ?”…..YES, we do.!!…Go for CHANGE.
Capt.
It is the Disassociation (Unfreeze) and Reconditioning (Refreeze) part that is the difficult part. Five thousand years of toufu-mentality did not change much of the chinamen (from spitting). What makes you think this is different?
OK, you may educate them on the benefits and positive aspects to change. You may identify the barriers and provide encouragement. But, you must be realistic on the goals and the time. Funny somehow I have been hearing people YELLING CHANGE, but do they really know WHAT TO CHANGE? Like I have said before, as long as you (or those wanting to change) are indirectly supporting the BN cronies, what change are we talking about? So, avoid these places like plague and deprive them the funding for their next election, then maybe it is a good start. Otherwise, just watch like everyone else. Cakap saje mah.
In addition, as long as the KATAKs (in East Malaysia) still have this kiasu ‘katak-mentality’ that tries to benefits on all aspects, BN will continues to rule. These Kataks wants to be with the ‘ruling’ party. You can assure if Pakatan takes over East Malaysia (IF and when, with a big IF), then you can assure that these kataks will lompat. If you want a change, try change the east malaysians first. As I see it, the west is doing a good job. Everyone wants to associate with winners. At the moment, BN is still winning.
hihihi,
,,,1st ly don’t be a VICTIM of the blame game. It’s fun for victims at least but unfortuntely its unlucky to be around them cos. those in close proximity to victims become easy targets !!. hehehe unfortunately-lah. ..the problem is anything or anyone but them.
,,,CHANGE indeed comes from within oneself…self-justification and complaining cos. “like attracts like”.
,,,”when one is complaining, one become a living & breathing “crap magnet”.
…indeed, my sincere advice from now on, as you hear yourself disastrously blaming, justifying or complaining, cease and desist immediately. Its you that creats your lifestyle and don’t ever attract crap into your life. Choose your own thoughts and words wisely !. Don’t harm oneself in-order to change for the better….its all in the mindset guys …trust me.
,,, bless you all for a positive year in 2010…o.k buddies.
,,,sorry, trust oneself-lah, not me !!.
I am confused as where you are heading; especially about the ‘blaming’ part. If I could see where you are going, I can say that I am enjoying life as it is, and always stay positive. Not sure about you.
It is when emotional sets in that bad vibes begin to grow.
Anyway, hope all have a good new year ahead. It’s only the beginning.
,,,in fact, we all been/being VICTIMISED !!.. but am coming from the individual self, as long as oneself don’t get caught in the blame game-lah. Its so easy to fall into this trap. Sure, you and me, we all are still enjoying life & living or else we won’t have the time even to blog-lah. Blogging can be de-stressing too. BUT also addictive too hehehe. Watch out yaa.
,,,i think we are matured enough to overcome emotional issues and bad vibes-lah….just too bloody kind of old yaa..meself.
,,,Lets enjoy our life and living. To hell with the politics, (actually am sick of it) am apolitical and just a pirate on an island some where in the south china sea.
,,,but, b4 i kick the bucket, would indeed like to see some ‘major change’ for the future generation. Old assholes are dying daily too, hehehe !! very good, let the younger minds take over. you get my drift buddy….!!
Do agree that we are ‘victims’; mostly victims of our own faith. Just like me using Windows Vista as my OS; usually out of our own ignorance and naïvety.
As for the ‘Old ass@&#*’, may their souls rest in peace.

You have not been wrong in your presentations, but merely contradicted a little only,,, but acceptable. From the very begining your 3 points are relevant but in another context but related to Concious Development(CD).
Therefore, CD will lead to the next level of elightenement which has been summarised by Capt
You are on tarck to build these link ups to create tarvel of sound to have an effect on the masses. However it is done shall has to be effective.
CHANGE here is viewed in 2 capacities :
Mine is: Create a concious change, by going to the unconcious state of peoples mind. Why do I say go to their unconcious state of mind. The other factor would be the contents to create Awareness.
Simply because,,,majority of Malaysians have been influenced by Government Propoganda ie, MSM, Newspapers, RTM, TV3, BTN and Religion.
Thats where I will take Capts point of application.
Yours is: The mode to create the change. This will also be the means to counter Government Propoganda.
We have not contradicted,, infact we have complemented and comprehended by adding on with ideas of course with Capt too.
Ignore the 1st one

Dr. ji
Phew… Thank you for your enlightenment. And thank goodness that we are on the ‘same side’. Hate to get on the ‘other side’ so early in the year.
Hope we can all learn from our weaknesses and correct them.
KK & dr Ji
,,,indeed by and large, our malaysian value system/mindset and code of ethics should be reviewed/combined/enhanced etc etc…. PLUS be utilized as impediments to our progress forward for a 1nation strategy. In fact, all of “them” are almost pretty similar but been corrupted somehow by inhuman minds !. Realization/Admission and if indeed the need for CHANGE is realized, then there is HOPE.
,,,Awareness of “ROOT CAUSE” is in itself a BIG part of the change treatment.
,,,if only we treat this “m’sian society of ours” as a sick patient first.??……..i.e. SUGGESTION;- A petition by a parliamentarian to protect patient freedom and expand our health care options with real reforms – focused on patients, not on politics. Its the simple CURE for it-lah.
,,,Just THINKING out loud as usual again. hehehe !!.
Kata kini SS Akaal,
We were not far from our thoughts,,,but,,,its nice to make a diifference to acheive a bigger picture.
capt,
Your last write up, somes it all up. Thanks mate.
Talking about Lobbyist or Corporate Big Guns being the financiers of the Candidates in US and other Developed Nations.
Malaysia is in that trend too but presently, it is being done with the proverbial term “Magic hands in the gloove”. These are mainly the MCA Bussiness Establishments.
Now there are the Bankrupt GLCs (Living on Public Taxes Money) and some Bumiputra Establishments like CIMB who apparently has DISPOSED UNSOLD PROPERTIES to EMPLOYMENT PROVIDENT FUND.
Now since when did our savings fund come to be used to to bail out CIMB from Non-performance Loans.
Obivious reason is to Prime Pump Cash Flow into CIMB and use it to finanace the UMNO candidates.
How many other Non Performing Brahmin Bumiputra Companies are going to be Cash Primed.
Time to dig into this issue?
Thank you Dr.
Let get the ball rolling……Are u a registered voter.?:)
