MCA: When the going gets tough, the tough gets going..

18/10/2009 by drrafick

1. In the past few days, I have been in the offline mode despite not having any problem accessing the internet. It seems most of the story that has been running on the online media is being repeated and it has becoming very dry. In PKR, Azmin and Zaid Ibrahim seems to be facing some problems but from what I was told that there is indeed problems within PR but it has been exaggerated by the MSM to show that it is in a critical stage.

2. In MCA, more information is now coming out from last week Central Committee (CC) meeting. It is clear now that the CC members are not prepared to face the consequences when they made the collective decision to remove CSL. There are some CC members who were hoping to take the express elevator to be in higher office. They are painting a picture that the problem can be resolved in MCA if both CSL and OTK are no longer in MCA.

3. I am not sure if the problem will go away but it is quite clear that CSL removal was based on a collective decision by the CC and certainly OTK should not be made the scapegoat of that decision because he was the MCA president. This is a problem when people start placing their personal interest over the party interest. Liow Tiong Lai (LTL) was an instant benefactor of the current problem in MCA. I guess he is a hurry to be the president.

4. I believe OTK made the right decision to let the delegates decides at an EGM decides whether an AGM should be call to settle the current problem. Firstly, he has the constitutional rights in ordering for another EGM. Secondly, the CC members were split right in the middle on the need to resign because of their collective decision. The CC members were also divided on the issue of whether OTK need to resign. In a way an EGM calling for an Ex-AGM will solve a whole lot of problems.

5. While this is going on in MCA, I was surprised to see an article in Malaysian Insider where the DAP is telling the police to investigate the possibility of corruption involving LTL. It seems that a company by the name of Axis Construction has been paying for the Toyota Alphard belonging to LTL’s wife. I am not sure whether this is true but an article in Malaysia Today, gave all the facts which includes date, amount and check number. This should be an easy case for police or the MACC considering the necessary documents has been made public.

6. I expect between now and the EGM, more dirt from both of the dissenting camp will comes out. LTL will be under attack. It is not easy to unseat the president when he has the powers within his hand. OTK soldiers will be on the attack and LTL need to act in a manner that does not killed his long term political future.

7. I hope more information will come out when the battle within MCA continues. It will surely test the fitness of the committee members and MCA top echelons and at the same time the hungry public will be given more information about the wrong doing by our political office bearers. Only the tough will survive. Certainly, Malaysia boleh!

OTK is doing the right thing, he now knows that some have played him out not cos of what they believe in or cos OTK was bad but they saw a short cut to the top. CSL out and the OTK, wow what is left is to pick the top spots. the EGM should decide since the CC is unable to decide to call for for new elections. If EGM says yes, then all CC members will quit. LTL outside of the new allegation, will not have the balls to go for the President unless it is a suicide mission so he can walk away due to this allegation. LTL if wants to stay on, will go for Deputy. But who will he hook up with?CSL? can’t be ma cos LTL says he has damaged MCA reputation. OTK, no way now. OTK and CSL will go for President post. Donald Lim will go for deputy president again.

MCA good luck but no matter what, your support is limited at the voters level.

    Doc,

I predict your varsiti mate LTL position as MCA vice president is numbered. Unlike in UMNO , members of MCA do not tolerate mistakes (not corruption per se) and if you are caught that’s it. Out you go !

More dirt will surface putting MCA on par with scandals in UMNO. Little by little more dirt will surface on MCA collusion with UMNO in PKFZ.

See how the bedding partner of UMNO come up with damage control. Interesting !

Cannot control anymore, they will wield axes not KERIS !
      Winner takes all…not like UMNO

This is Chinese MAFIA…not ME LA YU!

Why bother about the outcome of the EGM or AGM? MCA is considered dead, only that its carcass has not been removed! Claiming to “represent” the Chinese and “fight” (争取) for the Chinese! Come on! these two Chinese words are “copyrighted” to the opposition! Why the hell should MCA 争取 since it is part of the ruling party? If it insists on using these two words, then it is only declaring itself as the “opposition within the ruling party”!!!!!!!

In my personal opinion, whether OTK made the right decision to let the delegates decides at an EGM decides whether an AGM should be call to settle the current problem is irrelevant as he is just merely buying time.

To the Chinese, he has no principle & dignity at all coz’ before the EGM, he already said that he would resign if he hasn’t got the support. But see what happened after the EGM ? Now he lets the delegates decides. Perhaps he was too confidence that in the EGM he would get the support from the delegates . I guess he miscalculated that.

Doc, do you honestly believe that those involved in the PKFZ scandal will stay silence when he’s pursuing the issue ? Imagine if he’s just a commoner & not a minister, is easier to let things sweep under the carpet. So, let’s hope he’ll dig out more dirt regarding PKFZ scandal & bring those involved to justice !

    • on 18/10/2009 at 11:10 PM moimoi

Can’t really fault OTK for wanting to stay on as he was sabotaged by his own men!

      • on 19/10/2009 at 4:56 PM DG

I thought OTK said he would resign if CSL was reelected as Deputy ? In this case, I see it as a draw. So it is fair to call for AGM. More people, more say. Voting would be more democratic and clearer.
What should there be a problem ?
