MCA EGM: The show of the year on 111111?

15/10/2009 by drrafick

1. After the first EGM that was done a few days ago on 101010, many including me had thought that OTK will resign. The first EGM result was surprising enough as no one had predicted the way the voting results had turn out. Many had expected it to be an “all or none” kind of result which would decide the fate of OTK and CSL.

2. Like many others, I too was anxiously waiting for the outcome of the MCA central committee meeting that took place today. Mahathir in his usual brash said that both OTK and CSL should resign. Many had expected my University mate, Dato Sri  Liow Tiong Lai (LTL) to take over as the acting MCA president. I had predicted the same and told my boss this morning that the most likely outcome would be that OTK would resign because of his principles and LTL will be the caretaker Chairman. It turns out that I was wrong big time. It also shows that world of politics does not usually works in the way ordinary people would think. I think many punters lost money as well today because OTK did not resign.

3. The MCA central committee was certainly divided on the next course of decision and the best decision is to let the members decide. This is indirectly what the MCA central committee did. I will explain why I said indirectly in the subsequent paragraph. At the moment it is quite clear that CSL has been further sidelined and the appointment of LTL has made it quite difficult for CSL to come back into his number 2 position.

4. The MCA central committee has decided to let its members decide whether an Extraordinary AGM should be called to resolve the current leadership crisis. I thought the resolution of the EGM should  be whether OTK  or the central committee should resign en bloc. Instead the resolution is to decide whether an Ex-AGM should be called. This is one way for OTK and those behind him in the central committee to save face and stay in power. I think if the resolution  calling for OTK to resign, based on the recent EGM result he might just exit MCA in a dishonorable manner.

5. The central committee decision asking for members to decide on the calling of  Ex-AGM, it would mean that not the President and its central committee must resign but all  the office bearers at every level of MCA organizational structure must resign. This is a brilliant move. In a way the central committee has made it an equal opportunity  for everyone to win or to lose in the event that the AGM will be held. This would also means that the CSL and OTK would have equal opportunity to re-contest the various positions again.

6. The delegates that will attend the upcoming EGM will not only decide the fate of the president and the central committee but their own fate as well. Those who had opposed OTK in the recent EGM must do some serious thought if they chose to have an Ex- AGM. In the next AGM even their position will also be contested and they may just lose their own position again. In a way the delegates will be in a catch 22 position. In Malay, there is a proverb that says “ Ditelan mati mak, diludah mati bapak” which aptly describe the situation.

7. Indirectly, OTK has reinforced his position and forces the delegates to make a tough decision. The next big question would be when the MCA Secretary General would call for the EGM. Would it be on 11111? Politics never fails to entertain me proven me wrong. It shows that I can never be a politician.

Hi, the article published by MalaysiaInsider:

    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/malaysia/40701-et-tu-brute

Something strikes my mind, esp. the picture of Liow TL.

Anyone familiar with “Face Astrology” ? – take a close look of the mouth features..both ends sloping down (just like Tun Mahatir).

My understanding – such features denotes cunningness, sly, and treacherous inclinations, amongst others !!

    My 10sen contribution..(thats all can afford..He He).

    • on 18/10/2009 at 1:52 PM Dr. Amrit Sekhon

      Ghostbuster,,

Yes,,,that is why I said ” LTL n WKS were not happy of OTK change in mind”.
Yes, both these guys are part of the culpritism, that OTK is saying regarding ‘fair weather comrades’. Keep observing as the deck of cards are revealed slowly and surely, I hope or we have to read between the lines.

    Dr Rafick,

Even OTK is my much preferred MCA president, he has definitely let many of us down by not honouring his words, I would rather see him resign as the president to show he is a man of principle than to prove he is no difference from any other politicians, who are power crazy and walk walk their talk!

Dr Rafick, please remain as who you are. We do not want a
beautiful person like you to turn into some demons. Politic can change any person!!

    • on 16/10/2009 at 4:31 PM rocky

I believe OTK wants to resign but he also wants the whole CC to resign as well and call for a new elections. calling for new elections means he will resign ma. But the CC wants to stay on and divide the top positions among themselves which is not the right thing to do. so OTK asking for delegates to decide is good cos if based on who they voted before, it should mean a new election. Then everyone including OTK,CSL etc can stand for election. But it seems LTL is playing games and trying to take the presidency by negotiations with others in the CC and doesn’t want an elections. with an election LTL can also stand ma, why worry.

Lets watch what happens next. my prediction President will be contested by OTK,CSL, Fong, OKa CHuan . LWL won’t dare step in and will go for Deputy which shows he wanted the president post the easy way.

    nxforget,

It’s okay that you cannot attend the dinner….., but on OTK, he need not be in office….to bring the books on those involved….., just highlight it in our BLOG. The rest will fall into place…..G.I.O.G.

  6. on 16/10/2009 at 3:01 AM smchan

dr rafick, don’t waste time on MCA. well, only if you want to humour yourself when you feel bored, then MCA is worth every penny.

  7. on 15/10/2009 at 11:01 PM Dr. Amrit Sekhon

    NAME OF THE GAME

“WHO HOLDS THE CARD OF SPADE, CALLS THE SHOTS”.
As far as OTK is concerned his Spade Card is against Many past and present politicians, that he wishes to settle his accounts with.
The Government is also held at Gun Point, on PKFZ.
There was another very cunning observation to make,,,the LTL and WKS, were not happy with OTK’s change of stand.

    • on 16/10/2009 at 4:10 AM balasi

      Dr. Amrit,

You might be wrong….. here, about LTL and WKS…, I feel OTK…. is going for Broke….., just like a Poker game….., Sai Lang Table money……, you win, then you win if not you lose all including your underwear.

OTK….I feel…, not Bodoh…..bayang….., that guy has substances……, just waiting to unload…..if time or circumstances allow him so……! What do you think ?

      • on 16/10/2009 at 9:04 AM Dr. Amrit Sekhon

        balasi,,
Our views don’t differ and as I said,, it was an observation,,so in early statges like this,, I will hold my gun with the barrel pointing down. Politics is made up of rotten eggs anyway so,,,you wont know,,when another smelly egg is going to stink.

      • on 17/10/2009 at 3:48 AM balasi

        Dr. Amrit,

I will have to buy that…., anyway, thanks for the Happy Diwali sms…., to be frank…..I don’t understand the message….., but it’s the thoughts that count.

  8. on 15/10/2009 at 9:52 PM Rainstorm

As far as i’m concerned, MCA is irrelevant. OTK says in his blog that he will continue to pursue the PKFZ case in whatever capacity available to him. So, let’s see how many people can he bring them out into the picture of this scandal and brought into justice. Can’t wait !

    • on 15/10/2009 at 10:17 PM nxforget

Without the high position, OTK can’t do much to expose the PKFZ wrong-doing unless he had locked copies of documents in safe place.

Even the document is to be produce later, if not block under OSA, it will just be easily brush aside by the power that be.

The furthest OTK can achieved without the high position, is just to created doubts among the people of the person(s) he could expose.

      • on 16/10/2009 at 6:04 PM balasi

        nxforget,

You….mean the EGM….that was just over is a SETUP.,
to get rid of whoever it is to be….., reading within your lines.., suggest so.

      • on 16/10/2009 at 9:59 PM nxforget

I’ll be speculating if saying the recent EGM is a setup. It’s because I don’t follow much of the events that lead to the EGM other than occasional free reading of “The Star” at stalls while having teh tarik.

But, looking back at some of the past events, it’s not easy to do an exposé. One example is Ezam and the AP Queen, the magnitude is in the range of billions and no one is charge for any wrong doing, instead, Ezam was charge for OSA. Most of us knew there are many more but I’ll just stop this … just to keep short :D
