1. I received a call last night from a retired Army General of the Royal Malay Regiment raising his concern after watching some shocking news coming from the Sultan of Pahang which was shown on TV. His phone call led me to browse through the online Mainstream Media (MSM) and the online alternative media. It was buzzed with the news of the Sultan of Pahang had called upon the people to continue to support the BN government while officiating the opening of a bridge in Pahang.
2. I was equally shocked to hear what was uttered by HRH Sultan. In my mind, HRH has overstepped his professional, Royal and legal boundaries. His act of crossing of these boundaries worries me as it might lead to bigger things in this country especially after the action of the Sultan of Perak and the King (Sultan of Terengganu) in handling the Perak and Terengganu constitutional crisis respectively.
3. The law is very clear on the role of a Sultan. His role includes the appointment of MB’s as well as the religious head in a state. He is to remain neutral for the sake of the Rakyat. They use to be completely immune from prosecution until Tun Mahathir changes the laws. He has to be non partisan and must take an effort to ensure that he remains neutral in all aspects of governance. When the HRH make such statement of supporting a particular political party, it creates ill feeling among the Rakyat.
4. It really worries me when the HRH makes such a remarks especially in the current moment, the support for the need of having a Royal Family is waning significantly among the urban/semi-urban, young and middle age Malays in this country. The statement by the Sultan of Pahang may create further dissension among the people. It bothers me that the Malays that have been tolerating the many royal family and their antics in this country may just lose their tolerance. By being biased, HRH has opened a canned of worms wider.
5. Personally, I felt HRH should not have made such a statement. He has brought himself down to the level of a commoner and their politics. If by the will of the Almighty, PR is able to capture Pahang in the next GE, how would the Sultan reacts? Does it mean that he will not appoint the leader chosen by the Rakyat to govern them? Will he make life so difficult for the government of the day to function which will lead to problems of magnanimous proportion?
6. Over the years, more people in the streets begin to question the rights and the need to have so many royalties for a small country like Malaysia. The people who have high regards for the Royalty are getting lesser by the day. Their popularity dwindle when people gets to know how much it cost the state to maintain a royal family when hundreds of thousands are living in poverty. The Pahang and Johor Royalty are usually in the limelight for the wrong reasons. The Johor Royal family is always associated with thuggish behavior.
7. The most recent issue involve a bar fight between the Negeri Sembilan and Johor Royal Family. Apparently the Johor Royal Family had used gun and JMF body guards to assault the Negeri Royal Family. This does not augur well for the Royals.
8. Rumors over the years are rampant with stories of how the Pahang Sultan personal debt was settled by the Pahang State Government. There have been far too many stories over the years. Even the Perak Royalty which used to be well regarded by the people had their imaged tainted with the political crisis in Perak.
9. To remain important and useful, the Royal family must show that they have a greater foresight then politicians. They must thread the world of politics carefully in the best interest of the Rakyat. After all they have enough money to last 7 life time. Facts remains that only a small group of non-Malays really cares deeply about the need to have a Royal family. With the ways things are going, the Malays today are divided on the need to have so many Royals in Malaysia which means that the Royal Families has very little support of the people. If they think that the Royal Malay Regiment will defend them, I suggest they do a hard re-thinking.
10. If a member of a Royal family chose to bring their level down to the level of a commoner by their physical and verbal act, I suspect that they would lose the support of the majority of the Malays which may have an impact on the constitutional Monarchy system in the long run. In Kelantan, the hard line Malay Muslims are questioning whether having a Royalty is against the practice of Islam. Some even questions whether the people are respecting the Sultan more than the Prophet in their daily rituals when facing the Sultan.
11. I believe the best thing for a Royalty to do is that if he or she wants to be in politics, they should they should denounce their right to the throne and do not hide behind the royal veil where they cannot be criticized. It really saddened me with the act of the Pahang Sultan. He always said that he is open for criticism in his dealing with football in Malaysia. Respectfully Tuanku, you have failed the nation when it comes to football. I think you should stay away from politics.-“Patek pohon derhaka”

Doc,
Just return from berhari raya in the royal town of Pekan and only managed to read “the Sinaran” and “the Berita Harian” news coverage on HRH Sultan of Pahang speech while officiating the opening of Krau bridge.
There was no mention of “BN” in “the Sinaran” but a special mention of Barisan Nasional(BN) government in “the Berita Harian” . Could it be a spin by the MSM ? I would like to think so. I pray it was a mistake, and HRH was only making reference to the government of the day and not referring it to BN in particular.
Yes, Rulers should be above politics and therefore should remain non-partisan in politics regardless of their political inclination. Demonizing HRH Sultan of Pahang is very disrespectful and writing anything bad on the royalty by his subject should be avoided as with the advent in internet you just cannot stop/monitor people from writing their comments. Some of the responses are degrading !
There are still many of us who still believe in the constitutional monarchy, and the Rulers as a symbol to be respected by all Malaysians. The alternative of becoming a republic is too risky. Sultanisation of UMNO/BN by Mahathir with his 22 years reign is a bad example never to be repeated.
I was shocked myself when i heard in the news. How can a sultan be a partisan to any political party. Unheard of before. UMNO have really corrupt even to the royalty.
I must say i have lost respect for Azlan Shah after the Perak debacle and he of all people is played by the money politic of UMNO.
ygbenor,
how about the person who very first propagate, innitiate and officiate the “sukan lompat katak”? you must have had a full respect for the grandmaster i suppose.
a selection team was sent to search , hunt for the possible participants even to foreign lands.
the grand event suppose to be held in sept.16.
ygbenor taksebenor ygbenor.
pelangisenja,
You have nailed the coffin,….what goes around comes around. Cheers.
But then again, we must differentiate between politicians, royalties, religious people, commoners etc.
If one is in a particular grouping, one is govern by its set of rules. Eg. if you are a judge, you should not be seen in the company of criminals, prostitutes, lawyers who have interest in the case or for that matter, all lawyers just so that, one is above the suspicion of a likelyhood of bias.
It is a calling that demands all of oneself in the way one conducts oneself to the highest level of one’s chosen grouping.
You are probably right when you infer that politicians are one of its kind irrespective of which side they are on.
i think the sultan owes najib and family a huge favour for bailing him out in a casino debt he raised. anyhow, that damage has brought him into disrepute and shame to islam
oettinger,
It can be the truth….but then there could be other scenarios. Anyway…., how is your back injury….was expecting a email from you. Cheers.
i really like your blog its very nice information.
Dear Balasi,
Sincerely, I am not at all angry. But I believe you have lots to contribute, and the best way is to start blogging.
I started because I felt that the MSM is not giving us the truth, and upon reading the blogs, I become more balance in my views.
Please try Balasi, and I will support you all the way. Regards.
Dear Dato,
Thank you for your most favourable reply….., my work commitments as a Project manager leaves me hardly any energy to drag with what I want to share……., might be
when I complete the current project. ( might be before PRU 13 )
For now…, I’ve made it a point to just follow Dr. Raficks blog,…..and I could also post some on your blog…if you allow me so. Cheers, have a nice day Dato.
There is an expiry date for everything. Sooner, or later, Malaysia would be a republic. There is no need for any push for this country to evolve from a constitutional monarchy, to one of a republic. While we commoners have every right to comment on our rulers, by and large there have been only few instances where they had over-crossed the boundaries.
Lets keep things in perspective here.
sri hartamas,
Let’s not pray for that day,……or even keep things in perspective……, Malaysia might land into a much deeper hole then what you and I can ever imagine.
All we need to do is to instill into the rakyat how a country needs to be govern…… and the separation of powers that need to be adhere. Cheers.
Dear Dr
I took your advice and bought a dozen pills of viagra and gave it to my uncle. Instead of thanking me he became so ungrateful. He starts to talk incoherently, digging into other peoples affair as if he is a saint, created unfounded allegations about some air travel I made 20 years ago.
He started to shout on top of his lungs and started talking to the wall. He does not want to face me when he talks to me but instead talk to the open space as if he has no balls to even face me.During his latest rage of frustration he had indirect elucidate his never ending problem and fear of his wife which persist till today.
He concocted some stories which I do not understand related to my 10 year old car and some monetary issues which is so unclear on the relevance to his own problems.
I really felt sorry for him as he is a lonely man with no real place to call home. He does not sit at home because of the heat at home and the deafening silence between him and his wife.
He does not stay with his own daughters because the daughters who has suffered over the years has very little regards for him. Instead since retirement he has started sleeping in my brothers house, my mums house and any place he think he is accepted. On seasonal basis he would visit one or two sisters i.e. when his “angin has subsided” He does not want to talk about his daughter wedding reception where he did not invite his own mother, brothers and sisters.
The reality is, he is not welcome but out of courtesy of his old age and his senility my mum, brother and sister accommodated him.
Dear Dr, obviously your suggestion to give him Viagra has back fired and did not work. He is steaming from his ear, nose and ass. Do you have any better pills or suggestions? Please doctor, help me!
Dear Aridhat
(1) My apologies that the pills did not work. I have stopped seeing patients for the past 10 years. I may have prescribed you the wrong pill.
(2) If Viagra does not work, maybe you should try CIALIS. Apparently it last 3 days longer!!! For maximum impact try forcing your uncle to take a triple dose.
(3) In a multi centre studies done in the remote area of Africa involving several very remote tribes, it was shown that CIALIS also has some mental calming effect and can reduce mood swings (or angin as you describe it). I will find some literature for your reading to convince you further.
(4) I read your writings from the 2 comments that you have posted
( the above and another one at http://rights2write.wordpress.com/2009/09/24/the-two-mb%E2%80%99s-dilemma/ ).
In addition to CIALIS, I suggest you do the following
a. Hold his head and make sure there is eye contact when you talk to him! It appears that he does not have the guts to look at you directly, eyeball to eyeball. This way he will not talk to blank space.
b. Encourage him to organized a belated wedding reception for his daughters and ask him to invite all his brothers, sisters, grand uncles, cousins, nephew or niece etc. Normally functions would bring family closer together and it will improve relationship; provided his brothers, sisters, uncle, untie’s would come.
Talking always solve problem but first all the brothers and sisters must learn how to talk to each other! They must talk to each other and not AT EACH OTHER! Based on your information, I am not sure if your uncle are capable to do such thing.
Talking is an art but some people may not have it. They may have to go back to school and relearn the basic techniques.
c. Advice him, that he should mind his own business or show proof of all his allegations. This way it will be good for you too and once proven you must accept his evidence.
d. As for your air travel issues, I am not clear what transpired between the two of you. Maybe you can shed some light into what is it all about. Anyway whatever it maybe, why did he keep it for 20 years. Did you crash landed an aircraft in his compound or what?
He should have talk to you about it. If this bad blood between you and your uncle is about some air travel that took place to 20 years ago, I find it childish for him to keep it in his heart for 20 years especially when you claim that you are unaware of it!( you said it was an unfounded allegations)
(5) Now if CIALIS or the above advice does not work, then I suggest you sent him to Hospital Bahagia Tanjung Rambutan. I heard the air is clean, food is not bad and there is freedom of speech down there! If you need help to get him a place there, do let me know.
(6) You mention about not wanting to visit him even at his funeral.
That is not a good thing to do but then reality is he would not know whether you come or not because he is already dead. Logical isn’t it! So, I think this is a non issue.
Good Luck
P/s- The above advice is given on goodwill basis and I do not guarantee that it will work. Hence, my apologies if it doesn’t. Again, take care and good luck!
Ahdirat,
if viagra does’nt work with your uncle, then why not you try it whether it works in you.
if the problem still persist, then i think the real problem is you not your ” imaginary uncle’s’.
*advice is free of charge, no obligation*

“COMMENTS ARE NOT THE SAME AS CONDEMNS”
Dr. Rafick,
Good morning, please drive carefully to where ever you are heading….., I think the advice was very timely. Have a nice day. Signing off now.
Back in the early ’80s, when the Royal crisis between Mahathir and the Sultans was at it’s peak, Kelab UMNO UK had organized a convention attended by Mahathir’s private secretary Aziz Shamsudin. In the Kelab UMNO UK then were people like Syed Hamid and Annuar Musa.
Among the proposals by the delegates was to make Malaysia a Republic !
one.eyedman,
If the proposal to make Malaysia a Republic…, had come true……, we would have a President…….and he would still be President till today.
Thank God…..it didn’t take Off.
Doc,
As usual a well writen article. Yes , Sultans should remain neutral and have the rakyat’s interest at heart.
They exist to be part of the check and balance of our system of government, But, alas our Sultans seemed unable to stay out and be above politics. So when Sultans are biased towards certain party ,they do not serve their function ( Ch & Bal ) anymore. Why keep them ?.
Chinese have ancestors who experienced cruel emperors, Indians too with decadent maharajahs. Malays in Indonesia had done away with theirs Sultans and declared their country a republic. The usefulness of Sultans will be debated now and in the future. Only the Malays can decide because it part of their custom and culture.
In Malaysia we have a mixed bag of Sultans. Some rakyat friendly, some business minded, some thuggish, some low profile and some intellects. It is all down to chance what kind of Sultan each state gets.
Sultan Pahang should have used his power as defender and authority of Islam in the state of Pahang to pardone Kartina, who was sentenced to caning for consuming alcohol. It will show his magnanimity.
On Sultan Perak’s actions during the Perak debacle , I have some theories
(1) Instead of acting like King Soloman, he behaved like “Lady Justice” (blindfolded lady with a scale in one hand and a sword in the other) due to his legal training. He only saw that BN had the larger number of seats than PR. The fact that the rakyat elected PR was immaterial. Sultan Azlan was a good LP but proved to be a lousy Sultan ,in this instance.
(2)His decisions was influenced by some “skeleton in the closet” found out by BN or maybe Gamuda had someting to do ?
What if PR wins the next GE and be the federal government ? I am sure some Sultans will regret their present and past actions.
foo,
Dr. Raficks articles are always a ” EYE OPENNER ” but this article was a CRACKER!!!!!!, It speaks volumes of this guys character…., just see how he singed off ” Patek pohon Derhaka “, Doc I salute you.
foo, coming back to your response…, I think we will all land up barking up the wrong tree if the mindset of the people don’t change and rise to the occassion, we can keep writing articles after articles….,it will not make a difference. You know why?
I reserve comments till I hear from the others.
foo,
the question is who will be the next sultan in Perak? will the system in place since 1824(pangkor Treaty) will be followed? did Najib promise anything on it?
Rocky,
good point there, who is the next sultan of Perak? Is there supposed to be 3 royal families taking turns to provide a Sultan for Perak?. I believe Negri Sembilan also practise this system , anyone out there who can enlighten me. Thanks .
Cheers.
Foo,
I have considered it as a check & balance. It’s just legacy. Or Heritage…..Seems Penangites have been overzealous on heritage thingy ever since Penang is awarded as a Heritage City.
Second thing is I always adhere to this principle. Whether for good cause or not, everybody has own motives. So do ahem…..You can fill in the blanks…..The real problem is that our constituition has been violated over & over again
Recently, in sin chew jit poh, this Gerakan has been issuing a very overbearing statement stating Pakatan reps must attend the so called Legislative Assembly presided by the ILLEGAL SPEAKER, GANESAN. Ganesan stressed that it’s according to the law, else Pakatn reps would face disqualification if failed to attend the meeting. As far as I see, this is the politics of what Chairman Mao, China Communist Giant is practising:
POWER COMES FROM THE BARREL OF THE GUN
Ironical because Najib refused the entry of Chin Peng into Malaysia but practising Communism doctrine. He even frolicking with the communists in China. Hmmm……..
I have always been a big fan in Yes Minister & Yes Prime Minister. In Diplomatic Incident, the Prime Minister asked the Home Secretary to see if something can be done with the quarantine law. The French President would like to recipocrate the gift (Labrador) the Queen has given to him, by bringing the litters (from the Labrador) to the Queen. Home Secretary replied plainly.
“Out of the Question! We imposed Quarantine Law vigorously on all citizens & foreigners. The Law has been signed by the Queen. The Queen has to refuse it because She can’t break Her law.”
Foo,
Watch them! All of them…..It’s great episode
Foo,
Typo error. I do not consider monarchy as a form of check & balance. It’s a legacy or a heritage
I add on further by saying that the whole constituition thingy based upon Magna Carta is to provide check & balance upon executive. That includes the Monarchy
looes74,
I loved watching ‘Yes Minister’ and ‘Yes PM’ and they ( the TV channels ) should re-air these shows. The Brits have an eccentric sense of humour and are able to laugh at themselves. But I doubt our guys ,Rais and gang , will ever allow them to be aired again, it is too much like looking into the mirror for them !!. Real life imitating TV. It sucks , in real life , if too many comedians try to be politicians.
Cheers.
What surprises me, is the fact that people actually still pay attention to what the Sultans are saying.
pahnur,
Old habits die hard….., mentality sudah beku….. we need another 52 years for it to cair.
No wonder our personal income tax is one of the highest bracket in the region. Pak Lah has promised to bring it down by 1 percentum point every year but I guess he fell asleep… anyway its a wastage of public funds… we really have more priority in our life that having such a huge number of royal families…
Sentinel,
Was just wondering how many Hospitals we can built with that money. ( in a year. ) Can somebody out there take this a notch higher.
We also need not see childrens needing money for medical reason to come out in the open appealing for funds in our MSM……, Oh boy…something is badly wrong in this country.
High time the Government of the day sets a side a FUND of a billion RM, so we don’t have to see these children faces in the MSM. Then we can talk about achieving the status of a Developed Nation.
All these wastages on PKFZ and Bakun…..only makes you sick to the core.
the sultan is broke ..debts and high maintainance..[deleted by admin]…now he is acting in concert to get some concessionaire..suspect he is now eying to draw sand from the south china ?
mccann 105,
Hey man, are making this up or is it for real. Please elaborate a bit more, so we can get a better picture. Cheers.
Read this news. This is the possible reason he is wagging BN’s tail because of the report below.
Could it be the fear $ & Cents.
Finland Cracks Open Swiss Banking Secrecy Codes
published yesterday 06:29 AM, updated yesterday 06:35 AM
Finland and Switzerland have signed a new tax cooperation treaty that enables Finnish authorities to access Swiss bank account data even when no crime is suspected. The treaty, which helps investigators home in on hidden assets, still requires parliamentary ratification in both states.
Until now, Swiss officials have only handed over information when the criteria for tax fraud have been met according to Swiss law.
Finland has recently entered into similar agreements with other states with strict banking secrecy principles, including Luxembourg and Belgium. A treaty is also in the works to crack open Austrian vaults, and Finnish authorities are already planning new tax agreements with Singapore and Malaysia to ease bilateral information exchange.
According to the Finance Ministry, the majority of states release banking information when it is requested. The Nordic countries are, however, collectively negotiating new deals with several tax havens, including Aruba, Gibraltar, the Dutch Antilles, Bermuda, Guernsey, the British Virgin Islands, the Isle of Man, the Cayman Islands and Jersey.
my humble request to all commentators is to have some restrain in commenting be it the langguage used or touching on personal matters.dont go overboard.

“COMMENTS ARE NOT THE SAME AS CONDEMNS”
Dr. Amrit,
I’m a bit blur….here, does it fit into the forum that we are discussing. Cheers.
Ok,,,balasi,
This is a report of Switzerland could soon be opening up their VERY STRONG FINANCIAL CONTROL SECERACY LAWS OF ACCOUNT HOLDERS.
My reference was to a possibility that since, Finland and Malaysia authorities are already planning new tax agreements to ease bilateral information exchange.
This could open a flood of gates, exposing personnel accounts to the people, who has unscrouplasly stolen public money or earned money beyond his life time living methods.
The rest is to be associated to Malaysian Culprits.
I remember this sultan made a similar call for the people to support BN before. I wonder why he doesn’t realize that the monarchy should not ‘devalue’ itself by indulging in partisan politics.
Is this how they want to win respect from the rakyat?
But then, why he is supporting BN is understandable. RPK just wrote about his rendezvous in the casinos and how BN saved his skin.
Sam01,
Everybody needs somebodys help, some where down the line. Do you agree with me? It doesn’t matter who they are. Its how it works…..its a Norm.
Royalty and UMNO in Malaysia is 110% intertwined.
Dont you guys even realise it ???
Despite whatever the constituition says, since 1957, Royalty and UMNO have walked hand in hand.
I pity those fellas who forever write ask Agong to help with Musa Hassan case lah, dont appoint Zaki as CJ lah, this lah, that lah.
They still havent woken up to the fact that the Sultan does EXACTLY what UMNO says.
So Pakatan has not only got to overcome a corrupt Judiciary, a biased EC, a vindictive MACC and PDUM (Polis Di UMNO Malaysia) make no mistake, the Royalty is 110% behind UMNO!!!!
They know lah.
Just read what they are told, my foot!
They know EXACTLY what they are doing.
sunwayopal,
You know we know…..alot of people who cares also know…., but we need not elaborate.
All because of PRO YEK and PRO YEK
[Text edited by admin] Can you imagine the millions or perhaps billions that the rakyat pay to maintain the sultans, their immediate and extended families. Have they set good examples? Perak Sultan, Pahang Sultan? Johore Sultan?
Why do you think they keep supporting BN, when they are supposed to be above politics? Can’t you see the reason why? Because only through BN the royalty can enrich themselves.
IF PR comes to power, they cannot get so many goodies, contracts, tenders, mane it they have it!!!!!!!!!!
Sultans of Swing @ Swings of Sultan — Dire Straits.
Do you naively think that that the sultan wrote the text himself? I don’t think so. He is called in the function and given the text to read, so reading he did.
I doubt whether he really knows about the content let alone understands it. In this case it’s like asking a seven year old school kid to read so that the teacher knows he can read..but does he get the idea? Not necessarily.
Too bad our sultans are such ignorant lot. They totally lost contact to the subjects below them. They couldn’t even sense what people would have felt. The question is, for how long do we have to pamper them with palaces and handsome allowances? Are they still relevant?
Actualy what have they done for the rakyat?
NOTHING
adam,
who are you?
what have you done for the King and the Country?
remember JFK?
ask not what the country have done for you, ask what you have done for the country.
The disastrous end of the Mughal dynasty due to the bad decisions made by Bahadur Shah Zafar Khan was very saddening indeed.
Farouq Omaro ,,,,,, Adab ,,,,,
History Repeats ,,, shall repeat and will repeat ,,, if lessons are not learnt , from those historical facts,,,,, situations will repeat.
Just like Shah Jahan ,, Taj Mahel was build for Mumtaz ,,, to depicted the power for a loved one,,, but,,,, Sultans in Malaysia devoted their love to Money ,,, for the love of many Mumtazs ,,,,, which BN goondays(gandoos) pay them.
Naughty Doctor used naughty words.
Aiyohyoh !!!
Dr. Amrit,
Sometimes not your ministries problem….pun, you nak masuk champur. Susahlah Doc ini macam….., ini case very fragile…..have to handle with care.
if PR takes over Pahang, there will be less datukship awards for sure. and who will feel the effect?;) Sio playing politics may be good for other reasons. BTW this is not the 1st time HRH has openly asked people to support BN. asking to support the govt of the day and supporting BN is two totally different think.
as for FAM,the football level in Malaysia has been on a downhill since the 1980s. This is even after so much money was spent on it with all those sponsors in the 1980s, 1990s and now. The main cause is the poor leadership who have no clue on what to do and how to bring the level up.They flip flop all the time. This same leadership thou enjoys the benefits to the max.will FAM open up their accounts from 1984 to now? yet now they claim they want to do rebranding and rescue. if they were unable to do so in 20 plus years, how can they do it in the next 2 years.
privatisation is another try. They are basically shooting aimlessly and hoping one will hit the target. Until there is changes at the top and we get leaders like in the 1970s and early 1980 to 83, the level of football will go now where but down. we are at 152 now, well there is a another 10-15 place to drop, FAM Boleh!!! I also feel for the hockey in the country. They ain’t bad now and could do better. But I hope they do not start going down to where they are compared to Laos or Philippines when it comes to hockey.
Rocky,
Malaysia have too many Datuks and Datuk Seris making them meaningless titles. The Federal government should limit the number of titles each state can give out each year.
As for FAM, it is true a lack of leadership and ideas made Malaysian football a joke in this region. Teams unabled to pay monthly salaries to their players shows a lack of professionalism in basic management. They depend too much on FAM’s yearly handout . Football is both sport and entertainment business. The league should be run by business people and the football teams run by footballing people and not politicians and
royalties. FAM must concentrate on development and national team.
With the Sultan of Pahang in FAM, nobody in the council dare oppose or debate with Tuanku if they disagree on anything. How is FAM going to progress? Malaysian Hockey will follow in football’s footstep very soon ,with both RM Pahang and TM Johor in it’s ranks.
The FAM positions comes with lots of perks. and the amount of sponsors especially those in the 1980s like Dunhill etc, money was flowing into FAM. but the football standard on the other hand went down to the pits. so with all the money, they could not maintain Malaysian football standard let alone bring it up. Now we are ranked 152 after 25years of currecnt FAM president. But all those officers of FAM, do you think they salary and perks were tied to the performance of Malaysian football? do you think their salary and their perks were reduced? Yet the are now asking for few more years to bring back the shine to malaysian football which they were unable to do in 25 years. sigh
Rocky,
As far as all these titles are concern….., I think its time to rid it of our system. There is nothing there to it ….unless you are KIASU.
You cannot beat The DATUK pangkat you get when you are a grandfather…., can you…..thats God given. Thats whats we should all yearn for…..am I right.
Coming to football……, we can just forget about improving, if we still lets guys run the show….who have nothing to offer other then enriching themselves. Guys who have no two hoots of the game are running it.
[Text removed by admin !] WHAT A WASTE OF THE RAKYATS/NATION’S FUNDS BESIDE THE UMno-BN WARLORDS PLUNDERINGS !
Sultans should not only stay out of politics but sports as well. Look what has happened to standard of our football.
Sultans should not only stay out of politics but sports as well.
Markky
Should add business too. If Sultans do business abroad it is okay. But as a human being if they can not find any thing meaningful to occupy their time, they might became cuckoos.
ROYALTIES SHOULD WORK FOR THEIR BREAD
Just do like what Indra Ghandi did , in India during the 70s. Take away all their rights and earn like an ordinary man.
Lately Nepal was another example,, the King Ghanendra was taken of his privilages.
Sat Sri Akaal ji
On your suggestion that Royalties should work for their bread is like asking the Malays to work for theirs. Until and unless the latter had succeeded, then your ‘dream’ may come true. There is always reason(s) why ‘protectionism is necessary’.
Looking at the scenario, as long as the old fox (Tun) is still around, change will be almost impossible. He is too smart and many find him as a threat. Many are awaiting his demise; of course, not all are against him. Some just loved him; how he manipulates situations to his whim and advantage.
For this change to be realized, you will need to get rid of the doongoos, or should it be gandoos? (Same thing to me anyway; need to see which comes first). They (the doongoos/gandoos) have learned from precedents; be it India, or wherever. It is easier to be a ‘parasite’ than having to work for it. Isn’t it true to say that it seems to be working well; after all these 52 years? Why change??? Like the old adage, “why fix it when it is not broken?”.

The sad thing is the extent UMNO has corrupt all institutions in the country. Sadder still that we so easily sacrifice our principles and respects because of our weakness.
Is this our generation so spineless and shameless that too few honourables walk amongst us all?
It is unimaginable that those stalwarts of the party and others who stood with them during the days of independence are succeeded by these contemptible people who now make the news!
AcHoo,
Which generation are you talking about.?……, this problem of ours only started in the early seventies….,
when suddenly people realise that race matter more then what our fore fathers took for granted.
