1. As Najib and BN machinery continue with their propaganda or 1-Malaysia, it seems obvious that many Malaysians are not ready to accept the idea. Many have expressed their reservations. The more Najib is talking about it; it is quite clear that people realized that it is just an empty political talk.
2. I agree with Najib that 1-Malaysia is in line with the spirit of the Nation Constitution. I agree with him that there is a need to close ranks and work as one. When we talk about 1-Malaysia, it is not about having one political party. It is about having the people love and do things to cherish this country as our home. It is about the birth right on the land called Malaysia.
3. What we are seeing now is that the politicization of the 1-Malaysia. There has been no real effort towards its implementation. People in this country comes in various shapes, size and skin colors. To unite the people, the government needs to find the common values among all the people and implement it. There are things that government can do immediately and there are things that can be done in an incremental manner.
4. Allow me to give simple illustration. The moment a child is born in this country our National Registration Department has branded the child. In the Peninsular the child will be labeled as Cina, India, Melayu or others. Some people are sensitive over the word others as it would mean simply as none of the above. If it is none of the above, then what race are they exactly?
5. If Najib is serious about 1-Malaysia and as in line with the Federal Constitution, the NRD must immediately replaced all Malaysian race from whatever they are to “Bangsa Malaysia”. This is an important action. It will give a sense of belonging. To be born as Bangsa Malaysia means that you are born as an equal to the other Malaysians.
6. Similarly such connotations must be removed from any forms that are being used by the Government. While the government may argue that the Malaysian IC does not carry the race anymore but it is no secret that the race has been replaced with a digit number. It is meant to segregate the people.
7. There is a lot more to gain by removing the word race or Keturunan from the Malaysian government documents. It will give a completely new sense of belonging to everyone. Psychologically, there will sometime in the future where the people will not feel that they are being discriminated because they were born simply with the wrong skin colour.
8. Coming back the Najib 1-Malaysia, he needs to ask himself on whether it is all NATO (No Action Talk Only). Continue being NATO and lies to the public will actually have a long term detrimental impact to UMNO. So Najib, what do you say. Are you prepared to remove the word Keturunan and Bangsa from Malaysian Birth Certificate?
PLEASE SUPPORT THE PETITION TO FORCE THE GOVERNMENT TO IMPLEMENT THE BUILT AND SELL HOUSING SCHEMES
What is the stand of the PM on corruption?
I’ve been waiting like the patience of Job for him to say something on corruption, but none seems to be forthcoming thus far.
To me this is more important than the all-combined 1Malaysia, his walk-abouts, Rosmah’s shopping spree, the yawning UG episodes, Zamberi’s Perak coup et al.
Do I have to issue a dare that he would not say even an atom on corruption when his 100 days of premiership runs out?
If he prefers silence, I have no alternative but to say without mincing my words that all these while my perception him as being corrupt has been and will always be correct.
Corruption is the source of my despair and, I’m sure, of many others too; everthing else is secondary in comparison.
This is my belief, and tooth and nail I’ll stick by it.
Labels carry no substance or value other than what we give to it. We are malay, chinese or indians or whatever regardless of the labels that we will use. The moment labels are used, by its very nature, will exclude something else. If we say we are bangsa malaysia then we exclude foreign spouses, foreign workers, tourists etc. They too are human and just as deserving of justice, human rights and fair go (oz lingo).
What is far more important than labels is the internal climate that each of us carry within. If the internal climate is filled with hate, suspicion, fear, contempt and all the other base emotions and petty consideration then there is very little room for love and consideration and all the other things that made us human.
If there is space in our hearts and mind then there is acceptance. When then is acceptance there is the courage to explore. When there is courage to explore we have the opportunity to understand. There is really no need for religious or racial tolerance when there is understanding.
There is so little done in MSM and in our education to sensitise us to our human values. We are already 50+ year old and still behaving like little children in the sandpit. Perhaps I am insulting the children ; when children play they just play without thought of whether they were chinese, malay or indians or what have you. Try cheating and you will incur the wrath of the whole group. Even children knows better.
As adults, we steal by the billions and we have another adult telling the public that “we did not have a meeting to discuss the meeting to decide on ….Since there was no meeting to decide on that meeting the question of cheating do not arise.”
We were treated like children. But children knows better.
Dear Hamba. sebenarnya tak susah sangat nak faham maksud 1Malaysia tu. mustahil PM kita tak tahu.
After all our ‘pm’ is very well known with ‘glokal’ idea. Sentul standard
Doc ,
Is it necesssary for this craze for branding when one becomes the PM ? It looks like 1-Malaysia concept is not understood by many. The beauty is in the diversity. Allah create human of difference race so that we can know each other. There are still going to be Malays , Chinese , Indians, Caucacians , etc. and these cannot change . Where is there ” Bangsa Malaysia” but we, Malaysians are ” Rakyat Malaysia “.
Malays, Chinese, Indians, Others all living and working together in 1-Malaysia is what is call for. This means acceptance of racial tolerance , a give and take attitude and no superiority nor inferiority complex.
Does Najib even know what 1Malaysia meant? I surely don’t and so far even his ministers failed to explain it. If he and his ministers can’t even agree or understand what 1Malaysia is all about then what are the chances of implementing it? I say zero chances and it will be NATO! One thing I can say for sure, Satu Malaysia pening kepala with Najib and his government nonsensical antics.
