1. On page 6 of The Star Metro section, the headlines screamed “Forest to stay” and “Cheer for Kota Damansara Folk”. It appears that the Selangor Government has decided that it intent to gazette the remaining forest park in Kota Damansara as a forest reserve.
2. The Kota Damansara Community Forest Park (KDCFP) is a secondary forest located in the western outskirt of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was part of a defunct Sungai Buloh Forest Reserve gazetted in 1898 which contained 3,900 acres (16 km2) of protected primary forest. This made it as the oldest forest reserve in Peninsular Malaysia. The forest reserve was degazetted a number of times and subsequent development brought down the size of the reserve to a 857-acre.
3. This strategic piece of land has many developers eyeing for it. Residents and NGO’s have fought the State Government and many developers who wanted to develop the area. On many occasions, the Selangor State Government (under BN then) had indicated their interest in various manners that the land will be developed. On numerous occasions, Khir Toyo tested the community reaction with their proposal.
4. I would say the community and the NGO’s persisted and use their own means to bring this matter to the international level. It was a proxy fight which I would the led to the sweet victory today.
5. There are several important lessons to be learned here. Firstly the present Selangor Government listen to the voice of the majority i.e. the residents. It did not listen to the voice of businessman. It resisted the demands of the developers. The Selangor Government knows what is important. They represent the people. The people are their core business. The quality of life of the people is their core business.
6. This is what is lacking in BN in the last few years. What ever they say and what ever they talked about it is always about development. The development that they proposed is not balanced. There is always a hidden agenda. During Mike Tyson era, even the hill on the other side of the Subang Dam is not spared. Had there been no water on the other side of the dam, the whole area would have gone as well. I saw with own eyes, how an entire forest reserve became Monterez Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam.
7. The thing about trust is that once lost, it is hard to regain. Right now, majority of people in Selangor trust the PR government. They have shown the image that they are responsible and concern about meeting the peoples needs. I believe people like Tan Sri Khalid, Shaari Sungib and many others have earned my respect. I believe they have the respect of many other people as well.
8. Najib and BN needs to work hard. They need to shed the authoritarian and corrupt image. They need to show that they care about the people welfare. People voted leaders into power to represent their interest. The leaders are supposed to be people centric and not purely development centric.

Forest Gobblers. You should refer to Mahathir’s deeds during his last month in office in relation to Sg Buloh forest slicing.
[...] Najib, do learn a thing or two from Selangor Government…. 1. On page 6 of The Star Metro section, the headlines screamed “Forest to stay” and “Cheer for Kota Damansara [...] [...]
I m happy that Tan Sri Ibrahim is our MB Selangor. I will make sure he will still be an MB for many terms to come (unless if he goes stray)
“This is what is lacking in BN in the last few years”
Only the last few years?
BN’s emphasis on development and making more money and wealth has been their core strategies for like the past 20 years since the time of Dr. M. Maybe you were too young back then to realize these things.
BN has never been concerned with the people or the development of the nation’s human capital at all. Why else are the Malay’s still so backwards economically even after 30 years of NEP?
It’s a joke to say that only now after Najib became PM can the change start. Najib was already in the driving seat of the country even before he officially became PM. Did anything change?
well done PKR. This is the type of Govt. we want for the good of the rakyat. Everything is not money. Where we have to conserve we conserve and be transparent. If they is need for business go head as long as it is not on the expanse of the rakyat. Cheer!!!!!! for PKR !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Want to know what happened to Kajang. Every bit of government land within the town center has been bought over by Metro Kajang. I was told that this was the doing of Mike Tyson. He even wanted to sell the land where the present Kajang mosque stands. What a person this Mike Tyson was. And yet he claims to be clean……bullshit.
Dont ever forget who made the millions out of the degazetting of the forest earlier. The money was hand carried to a foreign country and the perpetrator was caught with his pants down.
well done residents of kota damansara!
and good job, selangor government.
It is a start to good news for the selangor folks!Transparency will start with this small steps to good governance!
Thank God that the Bn ‘s reign ends here.
Come next Ge hope umno will be obliterated for good!
[...] Najib, do learn a thing or two from Selangor Government…. 1. On page 6 of The Star Metro section, the headlines screamed “Forest to stay” and “Cheer for Kota Damansara [...] [...]
Druing GE 12, The RAKYAT have spoken up loud and clear. Everyone heard it then why not the whole comunity of UMno morons. They’ii never learn untill the doom day has come to hunt ‘em and wipe ‘em out totally out of the earth.
Najis, please keep in mind till the last day you live on earth.
THE RAKYAT THE BOSS!!!
The snail leaves a trail of slime while the eagle leaves only a memory of freedom. No matter how many flight manuals you present the snail, it can only ever dream of slimetrails and more slimetrails. Umno/BN will never understand these simple words: “noble” and “honest” and “service.” VOTE THEM OUT!
Recently homeowners in Bukit Mertajam area (Penang) were fined for “illegal extension of house”. Will the homeowners vote against DAP-PKR-PAS in the next general election?
Yes, BN just don’t get it again and again do they?
It’s not just about development. It’s always the same OLD TALK, bringing development to the people, but that’s what is expected of any government of the day isn’t it? What they don’t get it is the corruption and the inability to make it work with public’s trust.
If you want us to trust you, walk the talk…but before you do that , look hard into the mirror and be very honest with who you see in the mirror….
Sick and tired of these very corrupt and immoral politicians.
betul kata abang ini. bunag BN.
Well done to the PR govt and the NGO’s and Communities around the areas involved.
Personally I think it is the golf courses and all the “country clubs” that should go off…..what logic is there if destroying trees and forest just to make an artificial turf so that only a few can use them.
Kenapa perlu suruh Najib belajar dari PR cara untuk mentadbir negara ? Kenapa tidak kita pilih PR sahaja lagipun BN dah berumur 52 tahun , dah liat untuk berubah.
Well done. This is one middle finger up the Toyal’s nostril.
Well done. Now, if we want to keep PR in the post, we have to remain demanding on them. Where is the third vote for instance? It is also important PR becomes a real coalition with a common logo and platform to solidify it. Otherwise, BN’s hat of tricks will come back to rob us in our sleep.
BTW, I find it interesting we always talk about PR’s track-record, nobody ever talks about BN’s non-existent results on the ground. Not even BN hired supporters. It is really as though they are so incompetent, nothing can be expected of them anyway!
Tell me how to learn if no money in the pocket? Simple right? The rakyat who vote for them must also be ib the same boat knowing money is important to them only.I believe the present PR will be stayed forever if they continue their good work for he people whom they listen to.Look at Penang is also improving alot when the open tender is voice out. Some contractor said it’s not fair but the Penangise is happy that will see the different of it cos not only 1 or 2 will be interview.BN should have done it long ago to get the raykat trust but it’s look like it too late now as most of the raykat is heading toward the PR.Will they be able to overcome in the next 3 years?Times will tell and let see what happen next.
For this, Selangor has Liz Wong to thank.
No wonder those rascals are eager to get her out of the way.
Once a corrupt will forever be a corrupt as it is hard for them to turn into a new leaf after learning how to make easy money.
It is easier to turn in a drug addict than a corrupted person.
We are talking about the entire bn government here.
From their politician ministers right down to our civil servants.
By the next election i have to say that Pakatan Rakyat will inherit a rusted government machinery with various I.O.U s notes in the vault.
Even when we rides out this current world economic recession the next recession will be an internal one.
It is the duty of all of us to keep an watchful eye on najib , mahathir and the return of their gang.
get rid of BN/UMNO
Rome was burning, and Nero was harping,
Johor was sinking, and Pak Lah was sailing.
The nation is struggling, and yet Najib is walking..
…on a narrow and thin piece of a plank.
